Beijing Trip Report – BGS Lounge in Beijing
I had a little more time before I needed to go to the gate to board the plane, so I walked over to the other side of the terminal and located the BGS Premier Lounge which was located by gate E19. The lounge was a Priority Pass location as well as it served some of the international airlines that were departing near that gate.
The lounge was located on the second floor. A sign was noted at the bottom of the stairs that listed who had access to the lounge.
I took the stairs up and found one colleague at the reception desk. The colleague invited me to the desk and she requested my boarding pass. I provided the boarding pass as well as my Priority Pass card. The colleague thanked me and she scanned the card and asked me to sign the device for access. Once I signed it, she printed the receipt, returned my card and boarding pass and invited me into the lounge.
The lounge was small but it was not busy at the time and there were plenty of seats available. The seating was setup in smaller sections. There were large leather chairs available with small tables.
The decorations had travel themes and they were in good condition.
The lounge had the food at the center area. There were a few hot and cold items available. The buffet was setup neatly and all the items were marked.
The lounge had glass plates but all plastic utensils. I did not note any chopsticks being available. The dishes were clean.
Beverages were also offered and they included soda, juice, water, and a couple bottles of alcohol and one bottle of wine.
The hot food included Dim Sum including buns and pot stickers. There were also two soup options including one congee. Packaged ramen noodles were available in two varieties. One was beef and one was shrimp.
The cold food included fruit, chips and pastries.
The food items were all stocked neatly and the packages and dishes were arranged neatly.
From the buffet I selected Dim Sum and a package of shrimp Ramen.
The Dim Sum was served hot. I had two varieties. One was a bun and the other was a pot sticker with shrimp. The bun was fresh and it had a good flavor. The bun was stuffed with spinach and spices. The spices had a good flavor and the spinach was fresh. The shrimp pot sticker was also fresh and it had a good flavor. The Ramen was served with hot water. It was fresh and it had a good shrimp flavor.
The lounge was clean and comfortable and I relaxed for a few minutes before my flight.
When I was ready to depart, I approached the reception area and the colleague smiled and made eye contact with me and thanked me as I departed.
Summary –
The lounge was good. It was surprising that the lounge was as quiet as it was. The colleagues that I noted were noted to focus on keeping the area clean. I felt that the food options were okay but it would have been nicer if a few more freshly prepared food was available.
