Hyatt Regency Hong Kong Sha Tin
This post is a view of my stay at the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong Sha Tin.
Booking
I booked the hotel for 765 Hong Kong Dollars, or approximately $100 USD. I utilized a Hyatt Suite Night Certificate which upgraded the room at the time of booking.
I received four suite night certificates for being a Diamond Hyatt Member. I was unable to use them during the year and they were able to expire so I asked to use one for the stay.
I booked a basic room but the suite night upgrade certificate switched it to a Regency Suite.

Shuttle
The hotel is located a good distance from central Hong Kong and it offers a shuttle from Kowloon to the hotel several times during the day. The hotel published the schedule on its webpage and it operates every few hours.
I arrived in Hong Kong around 6:00 PM and the next shuttle was at 8:15 PM. So I had a little time before being able to go to the hotel.
The shuttle departs from the Hyatt in Kowloon so I was able to store my bag at the bell desk at that hotel.
The shuttle was a small bus that arrived at the hotel about 25 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
I boarded the bus and at 8:15 PM the bus departed for the hotel.
The drive lasted about 45 minutes and it made one other stuff during the journey.
The bus arrived at the hotel around 9 PM.
Check In
I approached the front desk and was greeted by an agent who welcomed me. Once she located my reservation she offered to escort me to the Regency Club to check in or that she would handle it at the desk. I said she could handle it at the desk. The agent thanked me and she processed the registration efficiently.
The agent thanked me for my Diamond Status and she offered am amenity for the room. I accepted the points and she thanked me.
The agent provided keys to the room and she escorted me to the elevator bank. The agent wished me a good stay at the hotel.
Room
I was assigned the Regency Suite which was a corner room on the second to highest floor of the hotel. The room number was 2535.
The room was a two room suite including a large living room, mini kitchen and bathroom.
The second room was a bedroom with a king size bed and sitting area.
The bedroom had a large bathroom that featured a shower and tub as well as toilet in a separate area along with a large vanity.
The bedroom and the living room both offered a view of the water and the city skyline.
The hotel was located on the edge of the town in the University area. The views were great where you could see some of the buildings as well as the mountains.
The bed was comfortable and it was setup neatly.
The linens and amenities in the bathroom was of good quality.
The room was quiet throughout the stay and I slept well.
Amenity
The hotel delivered a welcome amenity to the room which included a fruit plate, note from the General Manager and a honey comb cake.
The amenity was setup neatly on the living room table.
It was a nice welcome to the hotel.
Lounge
The Regency Club was located a few doors down from my room.
The lounge featured indoor and outdoor seating.
The lounge offers breakfast in the morning and cocktails and snacks in the evening.
I visited it outside the cocktail hour and at the time light snacks, soda, water and coffee were available.
The agents in the lounge greeted me and offered assistance.
I visited the outdoor deck and observed the skyline at night.
The lounge offered comfortable seating.
Breakfast Experience
I returned to the lounge in the morning for breakfast. The agent welcomed me when I arrived and he offered to setup a table for me.
The agent asked for my room number and he knew my name and he welcomed me to the hotel and used my name several times during the interaction.
The agent informed me that I could help myself to the buffet as well as he said he would prepare breakfast from the menu for me so I could sample the offerings.
The agent offered coffee and I ordered a Cappuccino.
The agent delivered the cappuccino a couple minutes later.
The cappuccino was excellent and I got to enjoy it while overlooking the city skyline.
The buffet offered pastries, fruit, bread, cheese, salad, cereal and juices.
All the food was fresh and it was displayed neatly.
Clean plates, glasses and flatware were available.
I selected a croissant, some fruit and cheese.
The croissant was fresh and flaky and it had a great buttery flavor. The fruit included pineapple and watermelon. The fruit was sweet and excellent. The cheese was also fresh and enjoyable.
A several delivered both a Western and Asian breakfast from the kitchen. I was surprised that I received both!
The Asian option was congee with beef, onions, pickles and toasted bread.
The congee was served hot and it had a good taste and flavor. The condiments enhanced the flavor.
The Western option was an omelet with mushrooms and cheese. It was served with ham on the side.
The Western option was served hot and the omelet was fresh and it had a good taste and flavor. The ham was fresh and it went well with the omelet.
It was a big breakfast so I just had a tasting from each.
The servers kept the table clean and they offered an additional cappuccino after I finished the first one.
When I was ready to depart, the agent at the desk thanked me using my name and he wished me a good day.
Public Areas
The hotel has an outdoor pool and a fitness center.
A variety of chairs were present at the pool along with a bar.
The pool was clean and the water was in good condition.
The fitness center offered several cardio equipment and free weights.
Check Out
I approached the Regency Club to check out. The agent welcomed me and he inquired about my stay. The agent asked to review my credentials for the rate. I provided them via email. The hotel said that the rate was not valid for contractors. I informed them that those terms were not disclosed when I made the reservation. The agent said he was sorry but the hotel would charge the current rate. I showed them the email confirmation with the terms on it and he made a few phone calls before informing me that they would honor the rate. The agent processed the check-out efficiently and he thanked me using my name and invited me back to the hotel.
This was the first time I experienced an issue with the rate. I reserved the room using a rate that I am eligible for. I was surprised that I had to go through all the trouble to provide it and that when I did the hotel still was not willing to honor it. Fortunately after the back and fort and showing the terms of the rate, the rate was honored but it was not a good experience.
Shuttle
I utilized the shuttle to return to the city where I could take the train back to the airport. The shuttle departed on time and it returned to the city in about 45 minutes.
Overall
It was nice being able to utilize one of the Hyatt Suite Night rewards. It’s too bad I had three others that I was unable to use during the year as on previous stays, I was told they were not available. The staff at the Hyatt were polite and they made me feel welcome. The suite offered a great view of the skyline and water and the room was comfortable and relaxing. The breakfast experience was good overall.
