Qantas Hong Kong Lounge

This post is my review of the Qantas Hong Kong Lounge which provides access to One World elite members.

Access

I accessed this lounge thanks to my American Airlines Executive Platinum Status.

The lounge is a shared first class and business class lounge that is located near the right side security entrance at Hong Kong in terminal 1.

If you are not able to access the lounge, there are many three lounges at Hong Kong that you can access with a Priority Pass Membership.

Get your own Priority Pass membership and enjoy the comforts of a great lounge while saving 10%.

Lounge Setup

The lounge is located on the upper level of the terminal and it overs an excellent view of the airport as well as the water.

The lounge has several different seating areas which feature several different options for seats.

There are some large couches, along with smaller ones scattered in several distinct areas which make the lounge feel smaller than it is.

Along the edge of the lounge you will find tables and chairs that offer an amazing view of the airport.

Shower facilities are available along with private bathrooms.

The lounge has one main bar and then two secondary drink stations.

The other two stations are self-service for wine, juice and sodas.

A food station is setup at the middle of the lounge.

Food Options

The lounge offers self-service food options.

During my visit I found five hot dishes and about 10 cold items.

The hot food included pasta, curry, soup, rice and a couple different vegetable dishes.

The cold items included several salads, fruit, cheese, crackers and dessert items.

The food was displayed neatly and signs were present listing what items were available.

The food area was maintained neatly by the servers and the area was clean.

All of the containers were full when I visited and there were a variety of options available to meet different peoples tastes.

Reception

When I arrived at the reception desk an agent greeted me warmly and asked for my boarding pass. After I provided it he thanked me and he processed my registration.

The agent also reviewed my Executive Platinum card to verify I was eligible to access the lounge. The agent thanked me and he invited me to enjoy the visit.

When I arrived there were only five other guests present and the lounge felt private. As I relaxed in the lounge the number of guests increased but there were always plenty of seating available.

Staff

I interacted with several different team members during the visit. Each of them were proactive in greeting me and offering assistance.

At the bar, the bartender offered drink assistance and after I ordered Sparkling wine he informed me it was Australian Sparkling wine before pouring a glass. The bartender asked if I needed anything else. After I declined he thanked me.

While I was in the food area, a team member greeted me warmly and offered assistance.

While I was seated a team member checked in with me several times and offered a refill on my drinks.

Lounge Experience

I selected food from the bar and enjoyed a Sparkling Wine.

The Australian Sparkling Wine was excellent and it has a smooth flavor. It was served in a clean champagne flute.

From the buffet I selected chicken curry, cucumber salad and tomato salad.

The chicken curry was served hot and it had a mild curry flavor. The chicken was tender and it had a good taste. The curry was not spicy.

The two salads were fresh and they were served chilled. The vegetables and tomatoes were fresh and had a great taste.

After I finished the meal, a server approached me, introduced herself and she offered another beverage. The team member asked for my name and she used it during the interaction. I ordered a cappuccino. She thanked me and said she would be right back.

The server provided the cappuccino a few minutes later.

The cappuccino was served hot and it had excellent coffee art. The cappuccino was rich in flavor and it was creamy. It was served with a cookie and chocolate.

The server checked back with me a few times during the visit and she used my name.

Departure

When I was ready to depart the lounge two team members thanked me as I was walking toward the entrance.

At the reception desk, the team member also thanked me sincerely and he wished me a good flight.

Overall

I enjoyed my visit to the Qantas lounge. I felt that the team members especially the server who assisted me was very polite and she made me feel welcome. The good options were plentiful and it was prepared well. I enjoyed spending about an hour at the lounge. Hopefully I will get to return in the future to the lounge. I appreciate an open air lounge that offers unobstructed views of the gate area and runways.
