American Airlines Los Angeles Minneapolis
This post is a review of American Airlines Los Angeles Minneapolis on a 737 aircraft.
Trip Summary
Date: Monday, February 27, 2017
Flight: American Airlines
From: Los Angeles – LAX
To: Minneapolis – MSP
Aircraft: 737
Seat: 4A
Upgrade
I received a complimentary upgrade to first class about four days before the flight thanks to my American Airlines Executive Platinum Status.
Unfortunately, my status is changing to Platinum, where upgrades are no longer complimentary as of February 1, 2017. With the revenue model and reduced mileage earning it didn’t make sense to maintain the status when all my travel is personal.
Travel Insurance
Do you have a travel insurance policy? A travel insurance policy can be purchased for an individual trip or on an annual basis. Travel policies generally go above and beyond credit card coverage and provide medical coverage as well as travel expenses for medical reasons. Allianz offers an excellent product that is very competitively priced.
Boarding
I arrived at the gate area at the scheduled boarding time. The activity level near the gate was low and there was no line despite the fact that boarding had already began.
I joined the line and the gate agent asked me to scan my boarding pass before inviting me to board.
The flight attendants provided a cordial greeting at the door.
I located my seat and relaxed as boarding continued.
The flight attendants provided a pre-departure beverage and asked what I would like. I requested water; however, other passengers ordered cocktails.
Boarding continued and the door was closed on time.
A couple minutes later, the Captain announced that there was a minor maintenance issue so the jetway returned and there ended up being a 15-minute delay.
The flight attendants greeted each guest and they asked for the customers dinner and beverage order during the short delay.
In Flight Experience
Once the airplane was up in the air, the flight attendants provide a hot towel followed by the beverages as well as the nut mixture.
I ordered and received a Coca-Cola. The soda was served chilled over ice. The flight attendant offered the can but I declined.
The flight attendants checked in with the passengers and offered refills on beverages before providing the meal service.
The dinner option was a choice between chicken or pasta. I requested the pasta.
The pasta was a vegetarian lasagna that was served hot. The lasagna was rich and it had a good ricotta taste. The sauce was sweet and there were a few vegetables cooked inside the lasagna.
The pasta was served with a side salad with a Balsamic dressing. The vegetables were fresh and the salad had a good taste.
In addition, a small appetizer plate was provided with cheese and salami. The appetizer was fresh and had a good flavor.
About midway through the flight, the flight attendant offered mint ice cream.
The ice cream was served chilled and it had a good flavor.
The flight attendants checked in with me several times and offered additional water.
Landing
The flight landed a bit late due to the 15-minute delay. There was a short taxi to a gate before the passengers were allowed to depart. The flight attendants provided a cordial departing message.
Overall
The flight was enjoyable and it went by quickly thanks to the hospitality of the flight attendants. The dinner service was good and I felt that the dinner quality was improved over previous flights. It was nice that the appetizer with the cheese and salami was provided. It was another good ending to a great international trip.
