Amazing Rocket City Adventure Huntsville Botanical Garden

This post is Amazing Rocket City Adventure Huntsville Botanical Garden. It is a review of my experience at the beautiful Huntsville Botanical Garden.

Background

The Huntsville Botanical Garden available for visitors on over 100 acres of land. The gardens feature installations by various volunteer organizations in the city who specialize in various types of plants.

The garden offers places for families to gather, picnic and learn about the plants and nature.

There are also great paths for walking and relaxing.

The Botanical Garden is operated by a small staff and many volunteers.

The Huntsville Botanical Garden relies on hundreds of volunteers to help plant, grow and maintain the facility.

The garden is most known during the Christmas season for the light installations that are installed by volunteers who are engineers at NASA.

There are volunteer opportunities available for everyone and they take pride in all the assistance received from the community.

Admission is around $12 per adults, or you can purchase a family annual membership and experience the garden throughout the year.

Arrival

I arrived at the reception desk to check in for a tour. The agent welcomed me and she arranged for the tour guide to meet me shortly.

A few minutes later, the tour guide approached me and welcomed me to the Huntsville Botanical Garden. The guide escorted me to a small electric car, for the tour.

I was the only participant for the tour, and the guide provided a lot of information on the history for the garden.

Experience

The tour guide escorted me around the 100 acres of exhibitions. She pointed out the different specialized areas where the various botanical societies that specialize in a specific species of plant maintains the exhibit.

The tour guide pointed out some unique artwork that was made by someone from the community who got into working with metals and other items after he recovered from a stroke. The man died tragically; and his family donated all the pieces of art for the Huntsville Botanical Garden.

One of the pieces was a tree made from metal and bottles.

The Huntsville Botanical Garden was currently installing a dinosaur exhibit which was scheduled to open soon.

The guide pointed out a turtle refuge area where they previously accepted donated turtles to live in a natural environment. The community is large now, so they are no longer accepting the donations, but the turtles walk freely around the water and guests and watch them in nature.

The guide escorted me to the various exhibits within the garden where we saw herbs, ferns and various other species.

There were several children’s exhibits available including a former gem mine and old fashion buildings.

One of the greatest features was a Lilly pad area in a small water exhibit. The area was decorated nicely and the Lilly Pads were beginning to grow. It was expected that later in the year, the Lilly Pads would be a lot larger than they were during the tour.

The feature offers places to relax and walk around. There are fish and various plants within he water. In addition, the plants and flowers were presented neatly in the exhibit.

Another great feature of the exhibit was an enclosed butterfly area, where butterflies can fly freely around the plants.

Butterflies are brought in and released each year, where the largest population coming in July.

I saw several butterflies flying around me. The butterflies had different colors from black and white to orange.

I enjoyed walking around the exhibit area. There were also turtles in that area that lives with the butterflies.

Another children’s garden with water features was present in that area.

Going along with the space theme for Huntsville, there were also space themed exhibits in the children’s garden.

The main building was recently opened which offers event space for weddings as well as other private functions.

The building featured large white pillars and was stunning in appearance.

The building overlooked a large pond with a fountain.

The grounds were well maintained and all the staff members and volunteers that I met were positive and they took pride in keeping the location beautiful.

The tour concluded and I spent some time walking around. I discovered a hammock area as well as an exhibit with an outdoor tent.

Departure

When I was ready to depart, the agent at the desk thanked me sincerely and they wished me a good day.

Overall

The Amazing Rocket City Adventure Huntsville Botanical Garden is a beautiful place where you can come and spend the day with your family and relax and enjoy the beauty of nature and some amazing plants, butterflies and turtles.

I would highly recommending stopping by on your visit to Huntsville based on how beautiful the exhibits and grounds were. I would love to get to visit during the Christmas season to see the light exhibit that is put together by NASA volunteers!

Kids will love it because they can see the butterfly’s, play in the water features and experience the Lilly Pads.
