Nearly Private Lounge Experience American Admiral’s Club Philadelphia

This article is Nearly Private Lounge Experience American Admiral’s Club Philadelphia. It highlights my experience visiting the Admiral’s Club near the International Gates at Philadelphia airport.

The review of the Admiral’s Club is part of my Philadelphia Weekend Getaway.

Access

I accessed the American Admiral’s Club via my Citi American Airlines Executive Card, which grants access to the lounge for all the cardholders as well as guests.

If you do not have the Citi American Airlines Executive Card, you could get an hour or so at the Minute Suites at the Airport thanks to Priority Pass.

Location

The Nearly Private Lounge Experience American Admiral’s Club Philadelphia is in the international wing of the airport on the upper level.

The lounge offers excellent views of the airport and runways.

Arrival

Upon arrival at the lounge, it was noted to be about 5% occupied with most the guests seated on one side near the bar.

The other side of the lounge was completely empty which made it feel like a private lounge.

My wife and I approached the reception desk and an agent greeted us promptly and processed our registration. The agent asked where we were traveling to before welcoming us into the lounge.

Setup

The Nearly Private Lounge Experience American Admiral’s Club Philadelphia is in a large area on the upper level of the airport.

The lounge is setup in two large rooms. One room to the right of the registration desk is focused around the hosted bar. The other side, which is to the left of the registration desk, is centered around a dining room area and large buffet.

Each of the sections of the lounge offers seating options between regular chairs, tables and oversized chairs.

The area surrounding the buffet on the left side has plenty of tables and chairs for enjoying the offerings from the buffet.

The bar area is in an enclosed room with tables and chairs around it as well as televisions that were tuned to sports programming. The bar was staffed by one team member.

A small buffet was also available near the bar.

The Nearly Private Lounge Experience American Admiral’s Club Philadelphia offered two hot items as well as plenty of chilled ones.

The hot items included a choice between Chili or Minestrone Soup.

In addition, a coffee station was available with a touch screen espresso machine with flavored syrups as well as regular coffee and tea.

Desserts included cookies and brownies.

In addition, three snack mixes were also available.

Lounge Experience

My wife and I selected a seat in the left section and felt like it was a private lounge without anyone else around us.

It was a pretty cool experience as these airline lounges are generally very crowded.

We spent time sitting near one of the televisions, before moving over to the window area to watch the airplanes arrive.

During our visit a British Airways 747 arrived. It is exciting watching the 747 pull up to a gate. It is a bit sad knowing that these are almost out of service; however, they unfortunately are not fuel efficient and with the four engines.

I recently got to ride in one on Delta on my Singapore Mileage Run Adventure.

During the visit we visited the bar. I ordered a Spicy Bloody Mary and Coors Lite for the side. The bartender greeted me warmly and she provided the beverages after a minute or two.

The bartender thanked me sincerely and asked me to enjoy the drinks.

We also visited the snack area and had cheese, crackers and chili.

The food items were fresh and they had a good flavor.

The staff members at the lounge circulated the room and they removed our used items promptly and they were friendly and polite when we interacted them.

Departure

At the end of our visit to the Nearly Private Lounge Experience American Airlines Admiral’s Club Philadelphia, we noted the lounge to be about 30% full.

A few more people joined us on the left side, but the majority of the guests were seated on the right side of the lounge. Perhaps because it is near the bar.

When we departed the lounge, the agents at the reception desk thanked us and they wished us a pleasant flight.

Overall

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised having the lounge nearly all to yourself. This was a big contrast to my experience at the Delta Sky Club at Minneapolis on my way to Philadelphia.

The staff that we encountered in the lounge were friendly and polite and we felt like the visit was enjoyable. The food had a good taste and flavor and was fresh and the drinks were prepared well and were excellent.
