American Airlines Cancun Charlotte Economy

Check In
My wife and I arrived at the airport a little under four hours prior to the scheduled departure time.
The airport was busy with activity; however, there were no other guests in line in the Premium Line for American. I have Platinum status, so I am able to use that line.
Once we reached the check in desk, the agent processed our bags.
Bag Check Issue
Initially the agent said we would have to pay for the second bag. I pushed back a bit because I know that Elite Members could check two bags for free when flying economy.
As it turns out, the agent checked one bag under each reservation. My wife does not have status, which was why they requested the payment for the bag.
I asked the agent to cancel that and recheck the second bag under my reservation.
The agent processed it, and I was refunded for the bag check fee.
We proceeded through security, where we waited about 10 minutes before entering the terminal.
Cancun airport is one of the locations, where the security line exits in a large duty free store.

Gate Area
We arrived at the gate area for our American Airlines Cancun Charlotte Economy flight about 10 minutes prior to the scheduled boarding area. The gate area was light with activity at the time.
The airplane was already at the gate when we arrived, and it was at one of the gates with a large picture window, so it was nice watching as the airplanes moved around while we sat at the gate.
Boarding
The gate agent started the boarding process about 40 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time for American Airlines Cancun Charlotte Economy experience.
I was assigned zone three, so we joined the short line when that group was called.
The gate agent reviewed our boarding passes, passports and picked up our Mexican departure card before inviting us to board the flight.
We made our way on the plane and were greeted by two of the flight attendants at the door.
We made our way to our seats, and got comfortable while boarding proceeded.
The boarding process was efficient and all the passengers were on board within 20 minutes after we took our seats.
The plane departed the gate and there was about a 10-minute taxi before the airplane was up in the air.
Seat
We were assigned the bulkhead row on the 320 aircraft in a standard economy seat.
The seat reclined as normal and was of average comfort.
The airplane featured WiFi but did not have any power outlets or USB charging available.
Sunset
In Flight Experience
The plane for American Airlines Cancun Charlotte Economy experience took off at dusk, and once we were above the clouds, the sun began to set, which made for some beautiful views outside the window.
The flight attendants prepared the cabin for a beverage service.
When they reached our seats, they greeted us cordially and offered a drink.
I requested a Coca-Cola.
The beverage was provided along with cookies.
The flight was a quick two hours and five minutes so the time went by quickly.
Landing
The plane landed ahead of schedule in Charlotte; however, there was about a 20-minute wait before we reached a gate.
Once we arrived, we exited the plane and were thanked by the flight attendants when we exited the airplane.
Customs and Immigration
My wife and I made our way to the immigration and customs area and utilized Global Entry for immigration before claiming our luggage and passing through customs.
The process was complete within 15 minutes of exiting the plane.
There was another 15-minute wait to clear security before we were back in the terminal.
Overall
Our American Airlines Cancun Charlotte Economy flight was enjoyable. The seats had plenty of leg room as we were in the bulkhead seat. The flight attendants were friendly and they made us feel welcome. I enjoyed looking out the window and watching the sunset. It was a nice treat as we departed Cancun.
