I recently shared the news about Carnival adding a new vegan menu. You can read about that here.

Following the news from Carnival, Princess Cruises has now introduced a vegan menu as well.

Vegan is a healthy way to live by eating a plant based diet. It has been proved to have many health benefits.

Traditionally cruise lines have had very basic options for guests looking for special menus. It was fairly common to have something like rice and streamed vegetables as the vegan option. Fortunately, all that is changing as cruise lines introduce new menus to match various diets.

Princess Vegan Menu

Princess announced today that they are rolling out a vegan menu to all 15 ships.

The new menu will be complete and it will include starters, salads, soups, pastas and main dishes.

The cruise line stated that “Whether guests choose to embrace a plant-based lifestyle or simply wish to explore the delights of these vegan menus, the Princess commitment to culinary excellence ensures that every guest finds an exceptional dining experience.”

This offers some refreshing news for guests looking for healthy items that are well thought out and flavorful similar to the regular cruise dishes.

Starters

The starter dishes that were announced sound good and they include the following:

  • Black Beans on Toast with Tomato and Avocado
  • Roasted Pears with Dried Apricots and Pistachios
  • Baja-Style Cauliflower Tacos

The baja-style tacos sound most interesting to me.

Salads

The salad options are as follows:

  • French Potato Salad with Dijon Mustard and Fine Herbs
  • Green Goddess Salad with Tofu
  • Endive, Beet and Pear Slaw

I am a fan of beet salads so I bet this one with endive and pear slaw will be excellent.

Soups

The soup options on the new vegan menu at Princess are as follows:

  • Creamy White Bean
  • Chickpea Noodle
  • Roasted Eggplant and Tomato

Soups are some of my favorite cruise dishes so it is awesome that more options are available for the vegan menu.

Pasta

The pasta offerings on the Princess Vegan menu are as follows:

  • Fettuccine with Walnut Sauce
  • Penne with Red Pepper Pesto
  • Farfalle and Summer Squash with Tomatoes, Basil and Pine Nuts

I recently had Carnival’s Pistachio Pasta sauce. I wonder how the walnut sauce on Princess Cruises will compare?

Main Courses

For the main entrees there are several great options as well.

  • Stir-Fried Portobellos with Soy-Maple Sauce
  • Plant-Based Shepherd’s Pie
  • Walkaway Ratatouille

The first item on the list sounds pretty good. Stir-fry dishes are yummy and delicious.

Vegan Menu

The new Vegan Menu on Princess is great news for guests wanting to eat healthy as well as to follow specific dietary guidelines. Hopefully these dishes will be as delicious as they sound.
