This article is Explora Journeys Partners with Famous French Chef. It is about a new partnership between MSC Cruises Luxury Cruise Line Explora Journeys and acclaimed French Chef Claude Le Tohic.
Explora Journeys
MSC Cruises Luxury Cruise Division is Explora Journeys. Explora Journeys currently operates one ship, Explora I with three additional sister ships in the works.
The brand offers small ship luxury in all suite accommodations for about 922 guests.
I am excited to get to sail on Explora I on March 8 from Miami to Bridgetown on a Southern Caribbean itinerary.
French Chef
Claude Le Tohic is a three-Michelin star winning chef. Le Tohic is the famous chef of Joël Robuchon Restaurant, located inside the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and for the one-Michelin star O’ by Claude Le Tohic, in San Francisco.
The chef will be operating a special restaurant on Explora I from March until June 2024.
The restaurant will feature a tasting menu priced at about $210 per-person. In addition, guests can upgrade to have wine pairings with the meal for $85 per-person.
Some of the expected dishes on the menu are:
- Cannelloni of scallop with black truffles
- Parmesan foam, and pastoral salad
- The chef’s signature dish, A5 Japanese Wagyu.
While this is exciting news for the cruise line, I was a bit disappointed that the menu has an upcharge. Given that Explora Journeys is a luxury cruise ship commanding about $10k-$50k per sailing, meal experiences should come included.
I am sure it will be an incredible dinning experience for those that are willing to pay the upcharge.
Anthology
The special dinner experience by French Chef Le Tohic will be served in Anthology a purpose designed dining room made to showcase world renowned chefs.
Explora I has previously had experiences from Swedish Chef Emma Bengtsson and Italian Chef Mauro Uliassi. Both of those dinning experiences also required additional cost above the cruise fare.
Explora
The new cruise ships in the Explora Journeys Brand feature 461 oceanfront suites and penthouses. All of the rooms offer balconies.
The ships are designed to be live in residences where guests can stay back to back on multiple sailings to have more of a home-like feel.
The ships feature six restaurants for a variety of dining experiences. In addition, there are 12 bars and lounges on the ship. Explora I offers four pools as well as 64 private cabanas. The ship has many spa offerings and experiences as well.
I am looking forward to experiencing Explora I in about a week.
