Beijing Trip Report – American Admiral’s Club at DFW – D Club

Beijing Admiral's Club DFW D

I arrived at the American Admiral’s Club in the D terminal at Dallas Fort Worth Airport and found one other guest waiting in line. There was one colleague present at the reception desk. After the colleague assisted the other guest he greeted me warmly and asked for my boarding pass. I provided it and he thanked me. The colleague returned the boarding pass, provided a drink coupon and an invitation to the Flagship Dining which he said was available inside the lounge. The colleague thanked me and wished me a good day.

The reception area was a small hallway. To the left of the desk the hallway continued and it led to a bank of elevators. I utilized one of the elevators to go to the club level. Once I exited the elevators I found a bank of customer service desks. The desks were staffed with four colleagues. The colleagues were all assisting other guests when I arrived. One of the colleagues smiled and me when I walked by.

The lounge is setup in several areas. The majority of the tables and chairs were taken at the time.

There are a variety of seating options which all face large picture windows where you can view the tarmac and gate areas. You can also view some of the runways at the airport.

In addition to the seating areas, the lounge has a children’s area, business center, restrooms and shower facilities.

To one side of the lounge there is a large bar with tables and chairs surrounding it. There is also an area for dining. At the time of the visit there was an omelet station setup. Omelets were available for a charge as well as various other for purchase items.

Two snack areas were setup. One near the bar and one further down the hallway. The snack stations had bagels, pastries, fresh fruit and oatmeal. In addition, juice and flavored water was served at the stations.

The lounge was clean and there were several colleagues circulating the room to remove used dishes and glasses and to tidy up the seating area as guests departed.

In the hallway near one of the snack stations a sign was present listing Flagship Dinning. An agent stood at the door greeting guests as they walked by.

When I approached the colleague, she smiled and greeted me. I presented my Flagship Dining invitation and the agent also asked to view my boarding pass. I presented the boarding pass and noted that a stamp was used on it noting my access to the Flagship Dining. The colleague thanked me and she invited me into the lounge.

The lounge was small and it consisted of several small tables and chairs. When I arrived, the room was at capacity. Someone was getting up as I entered so I was able to take their table. A colleague quickly approached me, greeted me and he cleaned the table. The colleague welcomed me and he asked if he could bring me a beverage. I declined at the time and he thanked me.

The Flagship Dining area had a buffet setup on one side of the room. The buffet offered smoothies, fruit, croissants, pastries, fruit salad, oatmeal, cheese, meat and various breads.

On the other side of the area there was another buffet setup with beverages. A variety of beers, wine, sodas and packaged smoothie beverages were available.

I took a few pictures of the offerings; however, a colleague approached me and told me that they do not allow photographs.

I selected a croissant, cheese and fruit from the buffet as well as a bottle of Evian water.

The croissant was served at room temperature. It was flaky and it had a good taste and flavor. The cheese was served chilled. There were three different options. The cheese that I selected had a good taste and one was strong in flavor. The meat was also fresh and it was served chilled. The fruit salad was served chilled and it consisted of mixed berries. The fruit was sweet and it had an excellent taste.

The lounge was full throughout my visit and I allowed another guest to share my table with me. He was also headed to China so we talked for a few minutes. The colleagues were circulating the lounge and they offered additional beverages.

The Flagship Dinning offered a choice between a red, white and sparkling premium wines.

When I departed the Flagship Dining area the colleague at the door thanked me for coming in the room and she also said she was sorry about the no photograph policy. I said I understood and I explained that I am a travel blogger so I document my airport experiences. She thanked me and wished me a good day.

I approached the bar and the bartender greeted me warmly. I presented the drink coupon and requested a Prosecco. The bartender informed me that he was out of the correct glasses and asked if a regular wine glass was acceptable. I said yes and he thanked me. The bartender opened the bottle and provided it and he thanked me.

The Prosecco was served chilled. It had a smooth taste and a good level of carbonation.

While I was in the lounge I noted that my upgrade for the flight to Beijing had cleared so I approached the customer service desk to get a new boarding pass. When I arrived there were two colleagues present and three other guests. The colleagues were assisting the other guests. After waiting for a few minutes, another colleague approached me from the bag check area and she offered assistance. I asked if she could reprint my boarding pass. I provided the existing one and she thanked me. The colleague asked for my identification card as well. After I provided it she thanked me and she presented the boarding pass. The colleague offered additional assistance. After I declined she thanked me and wished me a good day.

I departed the lounge about 30 minutes before the scheduled flight departure time. When I passed by the check in desk the colleague there smiled, made eye contact with me and he thanked me and wished me a good flight.

I thought that the addition of the Flagship Dining was a nice touch as I have always been surprised that DFW did not have a Flagship Lounge. All the colleagues that I interacted with were polite and they made the visit enjoyable.
