Earn Bonus Miles on American
American has recently introduced new routes from Los Angeles including a non-stop flight to Sydney on the 77W and a non-stop flight to Auckland on the 787 Dreamliner.
Whenever that happens, there is typically a bonus miles promotion where you can earn additional redeemable miles for travel on the new routes.
Currently American is offering two promotions on these routes.
Los Angeles to Sydney – Ends soon
Earn up to 90,000 Bonus Miles on the flight when you travel in First or Business Class or up to 15,000 Bonus Miles in Economy.
In order to earn these bonus miles you will need to take three trips. Unfortunately this promotion ends in about a week on May 31 so unless you already have a trip to Australia booked, it is not likely that you can earn the miles; however, you can earn some bonus miles for a single trip:
Bonus Miles for one trip:
First or Business Class – 30,000 miles
Economy – 5,000 miles

Earn up to 30,000 Bonus Miles on the flight in Business Class or up to 5,000 Bonus Miles in Economy
In order to earn these miles you need to take two round trip’s before October 31, 2016.
You will earn 15,000 Bonus Miles after the first round trip in Business Class or 2,500 Bonus Miles in Economy.
Includes Business Class fares booked in J, R, D or I; Select Economy Class fares booked in Y, H, K, M, L, W, V, G, Q, N, O or S on American Airlines marketed flights.
