Hyatt Zilara Cancun
For our second hotel on our Summer Cancun trip we stayed two-nights at the Hyatt Zilara Cancun.
I transferred points from my Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card. Hyatt is an instant transfer partner with Chase Ultimate Rewards.
I used 25,000 Hyatt points-per night to stay at the hotel.
We previously stayed at the Hyatt Zilara Cancun in October. To date, it has been our favorite all-inclusive resort.
You can read about my first stay in the post: Hyatt Zilara Cancun.
Arrival
We arrived at the Hyatt Zilara Cancun via taxi.
The door man greeted us and welcomed us to the hotel. The door man informed took our luggage and provided a luggage claim check. The door man asked for our name and he introduced us to a colleague near the front door who welcomed us to the hotel and she thanked my for being a Hyatt Diamond Member and she escorted me to a private check-in area.
Check In
Once we arrived at the private check-in area, the staff member introduced us to the colleague there who she said would help us with check in.
The staff member thanked us and wished us a good stay. The colleague at the Diamond Check-In desk welcomed us to Cancun and she offered to bring us a welcome drink. We accepted and requested margaritas. She thanked us and said they would be delivered shortly.
The colleague confirmed the details of our reservation and she processed the registration.
The colleague thanked me for being a Diamond Member and she said the hotel upgraded our room to one of the premium rooms. She asked me to sign a card to accept the upgrade.
The colleague informed us about the hotels facilities and she offered to make a reservation at the Asian restaurant as she said the hotel was at full occupancy.
We accepted and she scheduled dinner reservations for us the second night.
The colleague informed us the room was not yet ready; however, she suggested to relax by the pool or have lunch and come back about 3:00 PM to get the keys to the room.
The colleague informed us that the hotel no longer used wrist bands so we would not have to worry about those during our stay.
We relaxed and had lunch before returning to the desk for the keys. The colleague greeted us and he confirmed my identity before issuing the keys to the room. The colleague informed me that he would have the luggage delivered to the room shortly and he asked me to wait in the room until that time.
The bellman arrived at the room shortly after we did and he provided a brief orientation on the room and the hotel services. The bellman wished us a pleasant stay.

The pools were clean and the water was cool and comfortable.
The cabana were clean and the beds were in good condition overall.
One of the pools which was located next to the bar featured an infinity pool with a great view of the ocean.
Restaurants
The hotel features several restaurants including Japanese with table side cooking, Asian, Mexican and Seafood. In addition, a buffet was available with a large selection each day. A coffee shop was located in the lobby which served a variety of speciality coffees and ice cream.
A 24-hour area was also setup which served food and had drinks available throughout the day and night.
A gourmet tasting restaurant was also available for guests who were booked in suites and swim-up rooms.
We had lunch the first day at the open air restaurant located by the pool.
We had a seafood pot dish as well, shrimp cocktail and a shrimp entrée.
All the food was excellent and it was presented attractively.
Mexican Restaurant
We had dinner the first night at the Mexican Restaurant.
The restaurant featured a large picture window offering a view of sunset.
The service in the restaurant was excellent.
I ordered a fresh salad, soup and a Mexican prepared steak entrée.
The food was presented attractively and it had a wonderful flavor.
The restaurant featured a decorative candle display to set the mood for love.
Japanese Restaurant
We had dinner the second night at the Japanese Steakhouse.
The restaurant was decorated neatly and the cooking tables were setup elegantly.
The chairs were a bit high which made it slightly uncomfortable.
The servers were friendly and polite. There was a slight delay in getting our beverages; however, the service was otherwise excellent.
The chef put on a nice performance in preparing the food for all the guests.
We ordered the Lobster Tail to go with our meal. We were required to pay an extra 470 Pesos for the meal. The lobster was large and it was cooked excellently and it really enhanced our dinner.
The steak served for dinner was top-notch.
Breakfast
We had breakfast one morning at the buffet and the other morning at the outdoor restaurant.
The buffet was very large and their were plenty of options for all different pallets from Mexican, to Asian to American. The buffets were setup neatly and the food was all signed.

The food was excellent.
The outdoor restaurant featured a large menu which also offered something for everything.
I ordered the chilaquiles which were served hot.
The eggs were cooked well and the dish was presented attractively.
Beach Experience
The hotel was fully occupied which made it difficult to obtain poolside cabana during the day.
I woke up early to be sure to get a good location and then went for a walk.
In doing so, I experienced several amazing sunrises. I am glad I got up early.
We relaxed during the day and enjoyed the sunshine. Servers and pool attendants circulated the pool and offered beverages as well as cool towels. In addition, one of the attendants even cleaned our sunglasses while we were relaxing poolside.
Check Out
When we were ready to leave, I approached the front desk to check out. The colleague greeted me promptly and offered help. After I requested to check out, the colleague inquired about our stay. The colleague reviewed the charges which was simply the Lobster from dinner at the Japanese restaurant and she confirmed the method of payment. The colleague thanked me and she provided a pass to give to the door man when we were ready to leave.
The colleague invited us back soon.
The doorman assisted us with loading the luggage in the taxi and the doorman thanked us sincerely and he invited us to return.

We’ve enjoyed the Hyatt Ziva in Cabo, but haven’t been able to stay in Cancun yet. We have two small kids, so we’d be staying at the other Hyatt Cancun property, since this is an adults-only property. Maybe we’ll be able to check it out if we can coordinate a weekend just for me and the wifey. From what you and Angelina have written, this is definitely a property I’d like to stay at.
I believe it may be possible now to have dinner at both locations. So for example, if you stay at Ziva, you can dine at Zilara. I spoke with someone there that said they were going to the Ziva for dinner. Ziva is a bit larger so there are more restaurants. I would imagine the service and food is excellent there also. It is a great Hyatt redemption that is for sure.
