Guadalajara Intro
My wife and I have family friends that live in Guadalajara so we planned a four-day trip in the summer to visit them.
We know the family because they were in an exchange program thank links families in Mexico with families in the US. While my while was in high school, her family hosted several exchange students at their home. On this trip we were able to visit two of them.
This was the first time that I traveled to Guadalajara so I did not know what to expect. In the past my trips to Mexico had been around resort towns as well as a brief trip to Mexico City several years ago. I was excited to check out a new city and to see our family friends.
We planned to stay at one of the families homes for all four nights. We planned time for sightseeing, visiting a nearby city, going on a Tequila tour and having some great food.
Trip Details
We booked the flight using my American Airlines miles. At the time of booking, economy seats were only available at the anytime redemption level for 60k miles each. First and business class, however, was available at the saver level, so we booked the trip in First and Business for 50k miles each.
Our route would take us to Guadalajara via Phoenix on the outbound and via Dallas on the return. The flights between Phoenix and Guadalajara and Guadalajara and Dallas were operated on CR9 aircraft on American Eagle.
