Earn Bonus Miles Flying American to Asia
From time to time airlines offer bonus miles for flying on certain routes. You can earn bonus miles flying American to Asia.
It is a great way to rack up redeemable miles especially now when earnings have decreased.
American Airlines is currently running a program offering bonus miles on flights to and from Asia.
The current deal offers bonus miles on flights to Asia between September 15 and December 10, 2016.
In order to get the bonus miles you must register for the promotion prior to travel here. Use promotional code: ASF16
The deal gives the most bonus miles to premium trips in First or Business Class; however, most economy fares also earn a few miles.
Details
Round trips | First Class fares | Business Class fares | Full Economy Class fares | Select Discount Economy Class fares |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 15,000 | 8,000 | 3,000 | 1,000 |
2 | 15,000 | 8,000 | 3,000 | 1,000 |
Total | 30,000 | 16,000 | 6,000 | 2,000 |
The deal is valid on the following fare classes:
First and Business Class fares booked in F, A, P, J, R, D or I;
Full-fare Economy Class fare booked in Y;
select Economy Class fares booked in H, K, M, L, W, V, G, S or O on American Airlines marketed flights;
The deal is also valid on Japan Airlines under the following fare classes:
First and Business Class fares booked in F, A, J, C, D, X or I;
Premium and Full-fare Economy Class fares booked in W, E, Y or, B,
select Economy Class fares booked in H, K, M, L, V or S on Japan Airlines marketed flights.
How it works
The deal requires you to fly round trip to earn the bonus miles.
In the past some trips from the US to Asia could earn 30,000 to 40,000 redeemable miles. That has now changed to the revenue model so the same flight earning 40,000 redeemable miles may now only earn 4,000 miles. So getting an extra 1,000 redeemable miles on an economy ticket can help.
Obviously the deal is better if you book in First Class where you earn 15,000 more miles per round trip.
Should you book?
While it is always nice to have opportunities to earn bonus miles, I would only book travel if you actually have to go to Asia anyway.
The way I look at it, it’s always nice to get a few bonus miles.
I would register for the promotion regardless of your travel plans at the moment. You never know if your travel may take you there this fall or early winter.
