DoubleTree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile
This post covers a trip review from the DoubleTree Hotel Chicago Magificent Mile where I had a one night stay.
Booking
I booked the stay using the Hilton App.
Initially the hotel was available at a rate of $130 per-night; however, it fluctuated several times before the stay and the day before check-in I noted it became available for $89, so I cancelled the reservation and rebooked it at the lower rate.
Location
The DoubleTree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile is located on Ohio Street a few blocks from Michigan Avenue and the Magnificent Mile Shopping area.
The building on the outside looks a bit dated; however, the lobby appeared to have been recently renovated and it set a more modern tone.
The lobby featured a large gathering area and bar as well as two retail outlets and a restaurant.
The lobby was decorated in a few purple colors.
The reception desk was clean and it was setup neatly near the bar area.
Check In
I arrived at the hotel in the morning and was greeted near the entrance by a team member who welcomed me and he invited me to the desk.
When I arrived at the reception desk there were two team members present and two other guests were being assisted.
After waiting for a couple minutes, one of the team members invited me to the desk and offered assistance.
I asked if I could pre-register and she said they had rooms available so she offered to process the check in. I accepted and she asked for my name. After I provided it, she confirmed my identity before confirming the details of the stay.
My Hilton Diamond Status was confirmed and I was offered vouchers for breakfast as well as two water bottles that were placed in a bag. The team member also provided two cookies to welcome me to the hotel.
The team member pointed out the food and beverage options and she asked if I had any questions. When I declined, she presented the keys in a key card packet and she handed it to me. She also provided instructions for WiFi and where the elevators were located. The team member wished me a pleasant stay.
Room
I was assigned room 1821, which was a king size bed room.
The keycard worked to open the door without issue.
The room featured a king bed with a decorative headboard.
The bed was soft and the linens were clean and had a pleasant scent.
A dresser with television was located across from the bed along with a desk and coffee station.
A chair was located next to the bed as well as padded ledge by the window so you could sit and look out.
The view was primarily of other buildings and a parking lot.
The bathroom featured a large vanity. The vanity had a variety of amenities on it and the amenities had a fresh scent.
The bathroom featured a standard toilet that functioned without issue.
The shower had a rain shower head at a good height. The water temperature and pressure were good.
Check Out
I utilized express check out for the stay and called the desk to request check out. The agent thanked me for my stay and they offered to email the receipt. I accepted and they thanked me. The receipt was received within a few minutes and the charges were accurate.
I stored my bag with a bellman so I could explore the city during the day before having to depart in the evening. The bellman was polite and he wished me a good day.
When I was ready to depart, the bellman greeted me and he promptly retrieved my bag. The bellman offered to arrange a taxi for me but I declined and said I would take the train. The bellman thanked me and he invited me back to the hotel.
Overall
I had a good stay at DoubleTree Chicago Magnificent Mile. The hotel was updated inside and I enjoyed the colors used in the lobby. It was a nice surprise I could get into the room early when I arrived in the morning. The room was comfortable overall. I didn’t get to utilize the breakfast vouchers as my friends and I had plans for activities in the city. The team members that I encountered were polite and the stay was good overall.
