As you know from the blog, I am a miles and points guy and most often use the points for luxury travel experiences. Based on your following of me I am sure you can agree miles and points are really beneficial for having amazing experiences.
What you may not know about me, is I often volunteer my time in the community as well as am active in my church in Minnesota.
For some time, I have wanted to do something more to give back to the community. When I learned about an upcoming Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic, I felt driven to sign up.
Mission Trip
I’m hoping to go to the Dominican Republic this summer with a group of 25 people from Eagle Brook Church’s Spring Lake Park campus.
We’ll be serving with Bethany International which has a long-term partnership in the DR. We’ll work alongside Dominican Christians, serving the local church in whatever ways will be most helpful to them.
Our team will do a mix of construction projects and relational ministry, especially with children and youth. The DR is a sports-loving country, and we’ll use sport as a way to connect with Dominican youth and draw them into the church.
I am excited about the trip because we will be working with children and being able to give back to the community.
The program is run by a non-profit organization that specializes in Mission Trips and they have partnerships throughout the world with local organizations on the ground who know exactly where help is needed.
Trip Details
The Mission Trip has a cost of $1,989. So far, I’ve been blessed with generous donations from friends and family as well have contributed on my own.
I am around $500 short of reaching the goal and being able to serve a child like the one pictured above.

Nice. I really have been wondering over the past couple years how it might be possible to combine the love for the points/miles hobby and missions. I’ll log and and give a bit. Sorry I can’t do more but I’ve got commitments to other folks. God Speed on the trip 🙂
Thank you so much. It was so kind and generous of you. I wish I could combine the miles and points on this trip but that wasn’t possible since the organization is coordinating airfare. One of my friends is doing an independent mission trip this summer. In her case it’s a lot easier to use them for airfare. Anyway thank you for the blessing! Have a wonderful day.
