The flight was booked about a month or two before the conference for $375 on American Airlines. For this booking, I used my Alaska Airlines’ frequent flier number and could select Main Cabin Extra seats.
American does not offer upgrades for Alaska frequent fliers; however, you are able to select premium seating at the time of booking.
Have peace of mind by insuring your next trip with Allianz Travel Insurance with affordable plans as low as $17.
Airport Experience
There was a short line at the American Airlines check in air area Minneapolis St. Paul Airport. I did not check a bag so I skipped the line and joined the TSA Pre-Check security line.
There were two other guests in line in front of me. The entire process lasted three minutes.
I arrived at the gate area at the scheduled boarding time.
Boarding already began and it was clear that it was a light passenger load.
I joined the line and upon arrival at the podium, an agent greeted me and asked me to scan my boarding pass. The agent thanked me and she invited me to board the aircraft.
There was a short line in the jet way while I waited to board.
Once I entered the airplane, the flight attendant said hello and welcomed me on board.
Boarding lasted about 10 minutes and the door was closed early. There was a short taxi before the plane was up in the air.
Seating
I was assigned seat 7C, which was a bulkhead seat at the front of the economy cabin in the Main Cabin Extra section.
There were no other passengers in row 7 so I could change to the window seat for the flight.
It was weird having an entire row of six seats to myself.
The seat was a standard economy seat with a power port.
The aircraft featured overhead video.
An announcement was made that WiFi was not available on the flight.
In Flight Experience
About 20 minutes after take-off a flight attendant approached my seat and provided a package of pretzels.
The flight attendant greeted me and asked what I wanted to drink. I requested a Coca-Cola. The flight attendant thanked me.
She returned a few seconds later and presented the Coca-Cola can and a glass with ice.
The flight attendant thanked me and wished me a good flight.
The flight attendants circulated the cabin and they removed used items throughout the flight.
NBC programming was shown on the overhead screen.
I utilized my laptop to catch up on some work during the flight.
Landing
The flight landed ahead of schedule and after a medium length taxi it reached a gate.
A welcome announcement was made before passengers could exit the aircraft.
The flight attendant thanked me as I departed the plane.
Overall
This was an Amazing Rocket City Adventure American Minneapolis Dallas flight. The flight was good overall. It was surprising how light the load was. I had my choice of the six seats at the bulkhead row in the economy cabin. The time went by quickly while I did my work on the laptop.
