Excellent Chicago Trip American Admiral’s Club ORD
This post is Excellent Chicago Trip American Admiral’s Club ORD. This is a lounge review of the American Admiral’s Club at Chicago O’Hare Airport near the H and K gates.
Access
I accessed the Excellent Chicago Trip American Admiral’s Club ORD using my Citi American Executive Credit card. The card offers a full Admiral’s Club membership.
If you are flying on an International Flight departing from the international terminal at Chicago O’Hare you may access a lounge using Priority Pass membership.
Unfortunately, there are no Priority Pass lounges in the domestic terminals at Chicago O’Hare.
Location
The Excellent Chicago trip American Admiral’s Club ORD was located in the main American terminal at Chicago in between the H and K gates. The lounge was currently under renovations and there were several signs posted about it.
I also received an email notifying me that the lounge was under renovations. The other two Chicago lounge locations were offered as an alternative.
Despite the renovations, the lounge was still in excellent condition. About half of the original lounge was closed; however, half of the part that was open was fully renovated.
The renovations offer a transition from the classic dark colored lounge to a friendly open and inviting lounge with the use of lighter tones.
Reception
When I arrived at the reception, there was a line of about eight other guests. Two agents were stationed at the reception desk and one other agent was walking greeting guests in the line.
After waiting about four minutes, I reached the desk and the agent scanned my Citi Executive Card and welcomed me into the lounge.
Lounge Setup
The lounge had multiple rooms that offered a variety of seating.
Half of the lounge was in the old style with dark tone seats, tables and decorations.
The other half of the lounge with in the new style with light tones for the chairs, tables and bar area.
Both the old and the new sections were clean and in good condition.
Staff members were circulating the rooms to clean the tables and chairs and to remove the used items.
There were several large picture windows that give an awesome view of the gates and the aircraft moving around.
You could see both domestic and international aircraft.
I selected a seat near the window so I could watch the airplanes and relax before my flight.
Food Options
I arrived in the morning and the lounge offered the typical breakfast options including oatmeal, bagels, English muffins, pastries, eggs, yogurt and fruit.
The food areas were in the renovated sections of the lounge.
The best update to the lounge was the addition of the new Espresso Drink machine and customized Coca-Cola machine.
The Espresso machine offered a multitude of coffee options including hot and iced ones.
The Coca-Cola Machine offered a variety of beverages which were selected by a touch screen.
The food stations were organized. Signs were present by each item and clean utensils were present.
The food was in good stock and staff members were present and were circulating the area to maintain the station.
Clean dishes, glasses and plastic flatware was present near the bar.
Both plastic and glass cups were available for the Coca-Cola Machine as well as paper cups and glass ones were available for the Espresso Machine.
Here were two hosted bars within the lounge. One was on each end.
The bars were setup neatly and the bottles were displayed in an attractive manner.
Lounge Experience
I made a cappuccino in the Espresso machine.
The cappuccino was served hot and the espresso had a good flavor. The milk was creamy and it was warmed and foamed.
I selected oatmeal and an English muffin for breakfast.
The oatmeal was rich and it had a good flavor. I added brown sugar, nuts and fruit to enhance the flavor. The toppings were fresh.
I toasted the English muffin and it came out hot and lightly toasted. The English muffin was fresh and it had a good flavor.
After having the snack and coffee, I relaxed in one of the new chairs by the window. In addition to watching the planes outside, I did some work on my laptop. The WiFi was functioning but pages were a bit slow to load.
Departure
About the time my flight was schedule to board, I departed the lounge. I did not encounter any of the team members while I was departing the lounge. The activity level was busy throughout the visit.
Overall
The Excellent Chicago Trip American Admiral’s Club ORD visit to the H and K main club was enjoyable. I like how the renovations are coming along. I really like the modern decorations used in the new section and found the environment to be welcoming. The addition of the touch screen Espresso Machine and Coca-Cola machine also enhanced the lounge experience.
