Check In
My wife and I checked in for Flying is Fun on American Air Philadelphia Minneapolis at the airport because we checked a bag for the return flight.
When we arrived at the check in area, there were five agents present and zero other guests were waiting.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by an agent who promptly checked us in for the flight and checked our bag. The agent printed our boarding passes, provided luggage claim tickets and informed us where to go for security and the gate area. The agent wished us a good flight.
The check in process was complete within about four minutes.
We proceeded to security and were able to clear within five minutes as we were both assigned TSA Precheck.
The American Airlines security check point in Philadelphia does not have CLEAR, but when it is available, it is a great way to save time in line.
Gate Area
After visiting the American Airlines Admiral’s Club PHL Airport we made our way to our gate about five minutes before boarding was scheduled to begin.
The gate area had a moderate level of activity.
Passengers were standing around the gate area. We waited to the side while the gate agents prepared for boarding.
Boarding
Boarding for Flying is Fun on American Air Philadelphia Minneapolis began on time. The gate agent made the typical announcements about the boarding groups and checking roller bags.
I was assigned Zone 3 as an Platinum member on the flight.
My wife and I joined the line when that zone was called.
Upon arrival at the podium, the gate agent scanned our boarding passes and asked if we agreed to assist in an emergency as we were assigned the exit row. We accepted and he thanked us and welcomed is to board.
Boarding was efficient and there appeared to be plenty of overhead space for all the passengers bags.
The door was closed about 10 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time.
There was a brief delay as the checked bags was finished being loaded to the plane.
The aircraft taxied to the runway at sunset, which allowed for some beautiful scenes outside the window.
Seat
My wife and I selected an exit row on the E190 aircraft.
The E190 aircraft is setup in a 2-2 layout in the economy cabin.
Our seat had plenty of leg room and it was a standard slimline economy seat.
The seat had adequate recline and comfort.
The aircraft offered WiFi Internet access. No power ports or USB outlets were available.
In Flight Experience
About 25 minutes after we were up in the air for Flying is Fun on American Air Philadelphia Minneapolis, the flight attendants walked through the aisle and offered a beverage service.
When the flight attendants reached our row, they offered a package of pretzels followed by an offer for a beverage.
I ordered water and my wife requested tomato juice.
The flight attendant provided it promptly and asked us to enjoy.
The water was served over ice. The pretzels were fresh and they were crunchy.
Shortly after the beverage service was complete, the flight attendants returned to the aisles to pick up the used cups and wrappers.
My wife watched some pre-loaded TV shows on her iPad while I did some work on my laptop.
Landing
The flight was a little over two hours and we reached Minneapolis ahead of schedule.
There was a short vector before the plane landed and made its way to a gate.
As we exited the plane, the flight attendants and pilot thanked us for flying American and they wished us a pleasant day.
We made our way to baggage claim.
The bags were delivered within 20 minutes of arrival at the airport.
Overall
Flying is Fun on American Air Philadelphia Minneapolis was a good flight overall. We enjoyed having the exit row seat as it provided a ton of leg room. We relaxed during the short flight. The flight attendants were amicable and they provided a positive experience.
