New York Weekend Adventure
This article is New York Weekend Adventure. It is the introduction to my weekend adventure in the Big Apple.
Background
I planned the trip to New York with a friend who had a Delta Domestic Companion Ticket that was expiring soon, so we utilized it to travel together to New York. The total cost for the two of us was $320 for airfare.
The companion ticket allowed for potential upgrades but no mileage earning for the companion.
I received an upgrade on the departing flight and was seated in the Comfort Plus section for the return flight.

What To Do In New York
The Big Apple is an amazing place to have a New York Weekend Adventure.
The best place to start for planning is to consult the Lonely Planet Guide to New York City.
On Lonely Planet you can find everything at your fingertips including hotels, restaurants and activities.
I also like to check out TripAdvisor because you are able to read personal reviews which can further help you select restaurants and activities as well as book them right from the webpage.
Another great resource is checking out NYCGO, The Official Guide to New York.
Activities
A great way to enjoy a New York Weekend Adventure is to get a New York CityPASS, which gives you access to many of New York’s top attractions including the Statue of Liberty, Top of the Rock, Empire State Building and some awesome museums.
With the New York CityPASS you get access to the following attractions:
- Statue of Liberty Tour OR Circle Line Boat Tour
- Empire State Building
- Top of the Rock OR Guggenheim
- 9/11 Memorial Museum or Intrepid Air and Sea Museum
- Metropolitan Museum of Art
I visited the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
I also had some awesome views from the Empire State Building during my trip.
Foodie
I am a bit of a foodie so I love sampling great dishes.
To do this over a weekend, I decided to check out two Food Tours.
The first tour was in Chinatown and Little Italy which was hosted by Ahoy New York Food Tours and was led by an actor.
You can also visit Ahoy New York Food Tours on their webpage here.
The second tour gave an excellent experience checking out the Heart and Soul of the Village tour, which was hosted by Foods of New York. The tour guide for that tour was an energetic chef/mom which offered an excellent overview of the area.
I selected the two tours because they featured a mix of great dishes and I would be able to experience in the city.
I would recommend both tours as they were enjoyable, informative and they offered some amazing food!
