Finger Lakes
The Finger Lakes are an amazing collection of lakes in the shape of a finger in New York.
It is a beautiful area filled with wineries, beautiful scenery and amazing foodie experiences.
Everyone I met in the area was so friendly and welcoming and the experience was excellent overall.
The area is a collection of small towns and villages rich in history and down to earth.
One of those cities, has made a name for itself because its connection with car racing. Watkins Glen is the home to one of the oldest car races in the country where the drivers sped through the city.
Today Watkins Gen International is a large racetrack that receives numerous visitors each year.
In addition, the Finger Lakes are home to Corning, which is the maker of glass for everything with history tied to Thomas Edison as well as today in cell phones and electronics and so much more.
Background
I was invited to the Finger Lakes area to give a presentation at the TBEX North American Conference.
The conference hosts covered my airfare, hotel accommodations and conference registration for the experience.
I’ve gone to TBEX two other times and have really enjoyed the experience.
You meet great people who are in the travel writing industry and you develop connections.
I previously wrote about my experience at TBEX in Minneapolis and TBEX in Huntsville.
While my travel was hosted, the views expressed in this trip report are my own.
Accommodations
I traveled on Delta from Minneapolis to the region.
I stayed at the conference hotel, which was the Radisson Hotel Corning, which was a cozy hotel in a nice central location within the hip town of Corning, New York.
Trip Report
I will cover my Finger Lakes experience in a multi-article trip report. The trip report will primarily focus on getting to and from the Finger Lakes as well as some of my experiences in the area.
If you have never visited the region, I would highly recommend it as it is a beautiful place with so much to offer.
