This is No Free Cookies on Celebrity. It is a cruise news update for Friday, August 25, 2023. The article includes cruise news from around the web.
I read a lot of articles each week. When I find ones I think readers should read, I share them on the blog. Here are some of the articles that I found this week.
New Charges Spotted for Cookies on Celebrity Equinox
Celebrity is known for the amazing coffee shop Cafe al Bacio on all of the ships. At the coffee shop you can get pastries and great coffee throughout the day. The pastries have included cookies on all of the Celebrity sailings I’ve sailed. It sounds like at least on Equinox that those cookies are removed from Bacio and are now being sold for about $2.40 including the tax and gratuity. Could this be like the pizza worry on Royal based on the changes by other cruise lines? Perhaps it is just a test to see if people will pay for the cookies. But it could mean bad things for the great free options at Bacio going forward.
Port of Los Angeles Increased Cruise Taxes
The Port of Los Angeles and the cruise lines are raising passenger taxes 3% over the next few years. The plan is to improve the port facilities at the port. I sailed out of the port a couple times over the past year. The cruise lines pass the taxes on to the passengers, so unfortunately this means another cruise cost increase.
I sailed out of Los Angeles on Celebrity Solstice as well as on Discovery Princess.
Carnival Jubilee Cruise Director Announced
The cruise director can make or break a great cruise experience. It is nice to see a women being named by Carnival for the new Mardi Gras class ship. I love how Cruise Directors can make the cruise fun with activities and games as well as them creating a fun environment for all the entertainment and cruise staff.
Possible Amazing Value With Delta SkyMiles for 15 & 20 Day Oceania Cruise Auctions
I travel on miles and points frequently. Normally redeeming for airfare or hotel stays. In this article, the writer talks about how you can bid on some amazing cruises using Delta SkyMiles auctions. The price is never clear with an auction, but to get a luxury 15+ day cruise for what Delta charges for a one way business class ticket to Europe at around 200,000 – 400,000 miles could be a better use of the point currency? Would you redeem your points for a cruise?
