The Bahamas is a popular destination for cruise passengers with Nassau and private islands owned by cruise lines being the primary destination via cruise ship.
It is always fun arriving and departing in Nassau with the view of the classic lighthouse as well as the epic view of Atlantis.
This year, Bahamas celebrates 50 years of independence from British Rule.
Carnival Mardi Gras Celebration
This week Carnival hosted representatives from the Bahamas Government and other dignitaries to commemorate the independence on a special lunch on Carnival Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras was in port in Nassau on September 11, 2023 and hosted the lunch celebration.
Guests aboard the ship during the afternoon were treated to a parade and a special welcome to honor the 50th anniversary of the independence.
Nassau
Nassau is a popular destination for cruise ships.
I had the opportunity to visit the island multiple times over the past 20+ years and enjoy each visit.
From the beautiful white sand beaches to the fun city environment.
You can read about some of the fun times in Nassau on articles on the blog. Check out Carnival Conquest and Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas.
Carnival Invests in the Bahamas
Carnival is committed to the development of the Bahamas. As part of this investment in the Bahamas Carnival recently announced the plans for Celebration Key. Celebration Key will be located on Grand Bahamas Island. The new private destination includes a $200 Million Dollar private cruise port with dock.
Carnival curranty owns two private islands in the Bahamas for the Princess and Holland America cruise brands. Carnival offers guests on its main line occasional visits to these private islands as well on certain sailings.
I am looking forward to the new private destination for the cruise line.
