MSC Seashore Ocean Cay

This is Tragedy at Ocean Cay. It is a cruise news update with the lead story about a passenger that tragically passed away while at Ocean Cay.

I read a lot of articles each week. When I see ones I think you should read, I save them and share them on the blog. These are some of the articles that I found interesting this week.

Passenger Drowns at Ocean Cay

This is a tragic story about a passenger on MSC Meraviglia who passed away while drowning at Ocean Cay. It is a sad. I pray over the family and friends. Life is so short and sometimes it doesn’t make sense. I hope the family can be together to grieve the loss and to heal together in community. In the article it sounds like the guest was with a group of people as well as his sister. I can only imagine what they are going through. There may have been some issues with the care given by the lifeguard; however, MSC states that they are committed to safety of all guests and that lifeguards are trained by the Red Cross. My thoughts are prayers are with this family.

I visited Ocean Cay several times over the past couple years. I’ve found it to be an amazing island. All the staff that I encountered on the island were attentive and they seemed extreemly professional. I watched some of the life guards on my visit and noted them to be actively monitoring the ocean and caring for guests. You can read about my experiences at Ocean Cay here and here.

Explora II Floats Out

In some happier news for MSC Cruises and her luxury sister brand Explora Journeys, the Explora II reached the stage in construction where she was floated out for the first time. This is a great achievement. Explora I recently started sailing and they have been offering all suite and luxury accommodations for sailings in Europe. The ship will be coming to North America to offer sailings soon.

Ways that Crew Life Is Different From Passenger Life

This is unique article from the perspective of a cruise ship crew member. They point out some interesting differences that make life at sea different. One of the biggest things is that the day of the week doesn’t correspond with the actual day of the week but rather with the embarkation day being the start of the week.
