This article is Carnival Mardi Gras Cruise Director Changes. It is about one of Carnival’s favorite cruise directors stepping down.
This week, Carnival announced that one of the cruise directors on Mardi Gras is retiring early.
Mardi Gras
Carnival Mardi Gras currently has a popular cruise director leading the activities on the ship. The cruise director is Jonathan “Cookie” Adams.
Jonathan Adams has served as cruise director on various Carnival ships over the past eight years.
This week Mr. Adams announced that is retiring early.
Cruise Directors
The cruise director can make or break the cruise. They are responsible for ensuring guests have a fun experience.
On cruise ships, the Cruise Director is one of the officers and they take a large role in organizing all the guest facing activities.
The cruise director hosts the main entertainment activities as well as leads a staff of entertainment hosts who run all of the onboard activities.
Cruise directors shoot a video each day about the activities onboard.
The cruise director also is responsible for promoting all the onboard sales and special events and they must navigate delivering information as well as sales onboard the ships.
Replacement Cruise Directors
Carnival announced several of the cruise directors will be taking short assignments on Mardi Gras to fill in for Jonathan Adams.
The first replacement will be Marty Pitts who just finished on Carnival Luminosa. Marty will serve as cruise director for week or so on Mardi Gras.
Jacky Tang will then fill in after Marty through Mid-January. He will rejoin as cruise director from May through Mid-July, 2024.
In between Jacky Tang’s assignments, Joseph Boyes and TJ Partida will serve as cruise directors.
Carnival said that these assignments are subject to change.
I sailed on Mardi Gras in 2023 and has Jacky Tang onboard as cruise director. Jackie was a lot of fun and he ensured guests had a great time.
