Check In

I arrived at the airport about two hours before the flight.

The check in area was low in activity at the time.

I had a carry on so I skipped the check in and made my way to the security line.

The Chicago Airport does not offer CLEAR so I joined the Pre-Check Line.

Airports where CLEAR is available is fun because you can generally avoid the TSA Identification check and proceed to the front of the line.

I waited in line about 10 minutes before clearing security at the airport.

Gate Area

I approached the gate area near the boarding time.

The gate area was busy with activity.

There were very few seats available, so I stood in the boarding area along with most of the other passengers.

Boarding

Boarding began about 10 minutes behind schedule.

I checked my bag at the gate when I reached the gate agent.

The boarding was efficient and everyone was on the plane just before the scheduled time.

The aircraft was pushed back and there was a long taxi before the plane was left on a parking spot for about 10-15 minutes.

The Captain made an announcement that the weather changed on the route, so the plane would need more fuel on that route, so the plane returned to the gate.

Passengers were asked to not depart the plane once it arrived.

The plane remained at the gate for about 40 minutes while it was refueled and prepared for take-off.

Some of the passengers exited the plane. The gate agents did not process any other upgrades even though some of the first class seats were open.

The flight attendants provided small bottles of water while we were at the gate.

The plane departed the gate and made a short taxi.

All in, the delay was about an hour due to the refueling.

Seat

I was assigned a middle seat in the Comfort+ section at the gate.

The seat was a standard economy seat.

The legroom was comfortable.

The seat offered a power port.

WiFi and streaming entertainment was available.

In Flight Experience

Once the plane was up in the air, the flight attendnats prepared a limited beverage service and snacks.

Water, coffee and cookies or pretzel mix was offered.

When the flight attendant reached my seat, I requested a water and cookies.

The flight attendant skipped the person sitting next to me, so I gave them my Biscoff cookies.

The water was in a bottle.

I used my laptop for a few minutes.

Landing

The flight lasted about an hour.

The cabin was prepared for landing.

Once we were on the ground, there was a short taxi to a gate.

Once I was off the plane, I made my way to the baggage claim area.

My bag was returned within a few minutes of me arriving.

Overall

My Delta Airlines Chicago Minneapolis Spring Flight was good overall. The delay after departing the gate was a bit annoying but all in having an hour delay in Chicago is not bad. The flight attendants and pilots kept the passengers aware about what was going on. The flight attendants were friendly. Overall it was a good flight.
