Finding a great travel credit card –

Travel credit cards are key in the miles and points arena because they allow you to earn points on every day purchases. This makes it much easier to earn enough miles or points to travel in premium cabins or just for getting more travel experiences using limited resources.

There are varies different types of travel cards available:

  1. Airline or Hotel specific card where you earn miles and points in a particular loyalty program
  2. Point program that are transferable to a variety of partners
  3. Point programs where you can use the points to offset the cost of airfare or other travel expenses

Each type of card can be valuable depending on your travel needs.

If you always travel on a particular airline and seek to earn a lot of miles in that plan, then having an Airline branded card might be right for you.

If you seek luxury travel and like to keep your options open, having a card with transferable points might be the best option for you .

If you are an infrequent traveler or not brand loyal, having a point program where you can use the points to offset the cost of airfare or travel expenses may be your best option.

With so many options, it can be difficult finding the right card. Fortunately, there are tools available that help you compare the different credit card options all in one place and allow you to apply for the programs.

One such tool is CreditCards.com – This webpage allows you to review varies travel card programs and select the best option for you and apply directly from the webpage.

In addition: CardMatch  is another great tool that will review your personal scenario without making a hit to your credit report. The webpage will show you a list of cards that you are targeted for. This option will show you cards that you are most likely able to get approved.

Keep in mind that the interest rate on travel credit cards is high and the cost outweighs the benefits from the points earned so make sure you only charge what you can pay off each month.

Have you used either of these tools to find your credit card?

Note: In fair disclosure I earn a small commission if you apply for a credit card via the links above and are approved.

I’m so thankful for the variety of travel credit cards available. My family has seen so much of the world thanks to all of the benefits we’ve received… at a fraction of the normal cost because of all of the miles and points we’ve earned.

They really make a lot of great travel experiences within reach. Plus now that there is the card match tool it makes it easy to know what cards to apply for!
