Delta Sky Club Detroit Christmas Experience
This article is Delta Sky Club Detroit Christmas Experience. It is about my experience visiting the Sky Club at DTW airport on Christmas night.
The Delta Sky Club review is part of my Christmas Travel Trip Report.
Access
I accessed the Delta Sky Club thanks to my American Express Platinum card. I get access to the Sky Club when I travel Delta.
There are no Priority Pass Lounges at Detroit, so if you are traveling on Delta, your only option is the Sky Club.
You can purchase a day pass but the price is pretty expensive to justify it especially if you are traveling with multiple people.
Location
There are four Delta Sky Club’s in Detroit. One club is located in the regional area by the B and C gates. Two small clubs are located at the ends of the A terminal as well as one large main club middle. For this visit, I went to the main club.
The two clubs at the end of the A terminal were closed for Christmas and passengers were invited to the main club.
Arrival
I arrived at the lounge and joined a line of four other guests checking in.
When I reached the agent, he welcomed me and asked me to scan my boarding pass and to present my access card.
I provided my American Express card.
The agent thanked me, informed me of the flight time and gate and wished me a good time at the lounge.
Upon arrival, the lounge was about 85% full.
Lounge Setup
The Delta Sky Club Main Lounge in Detroit is large and it offers multiple sections for seating.
The lounge features fireplaces, artwork and various walls to make it feel more private.
Rooms are available with televisions where you can relax and watch the news.
Other areas offer private seating on comfortable chairs.
A main area has a variety of tables an chairs for present.
The lounge has the bar and main food area at the back of the lounge to the side of the television room.
Bar and Food Options
The bar is self service and their was frequently a line to make your own drink.
Various bottles of alcohol were available along with multiple wines and three beers.
Clean glasses were available near the drink stations.
The food options were spread out throughout the room.
Hot food was available including meat balls, pasta and two varieties of soup.
Cup o Noodles were available for ramen that you could make with hot water from the coffee machine.
The chilled items included a salad bar with a variety of toppings.
Hummus, cheese and veggies were also.
Desserts included cookies and snacks.
The food all looked appetizing and it was setup neatly.
The food stock level was low due to the business of the lounge. Staff were constantly refilling the food and drinks throughout the visit.
Lounge Experience
I walked around the various rooms before finding a comfortable chair with a mini table to relax on.
The lounge was very busy so it was difficult to take pictures during the stay.
The temperature was comfortable and the sound level was low and comfortable.
Servers were present to clean the areas to allow new seating as guests departed.
I approached the bar area and made a cocktail.
I also selected a salad and customized it to my liking.
The food was fresh and it had a good taste and flavor.
I also sampled the local beer during the visit.
A server greeted me while I was near the bar.
Departure
About 40 minutes before the scheduled boarding time for my flight, I departed the lounge.
My departure was not acknowledged as the lounge was very busy at the time and there was a line at both of the customer service desk and reception desk on the lower level.
The lounge was around 90% occupied when I departed.
Overall
I enjoyed my Delta Sky Club Detroit Christmas Experience as the food options were plentiful and the chair I selected was comfortable. It is always a bit intimidating going into a busy lounge however, I found a area where I could relax while I waited for my flight. The team members that I interacted with were polite and friendly during my interactions. The food was fresh and I had an excellent salad. I would return to the lounge in the future.
