This post covers my Mileage Run on American Air flight from Dallas to Los Angeles –
I recently took a mileage run weekend trip which originally included going cross country to New York and back; however, due to the East Coast Snowstorm, it ended up being two nights in San Francisco.

I received email notification that my flight from Dallas to Los Angeles was upgraded about 24 hours before the flight time. I was assigned a window seat.
The flight to Los Angeles was scheduled to depart from C6. I proceeded to the gate area about five minutes before boarding was scheduled to begin. The gate area was busy with activity.
I stood across from the boarding area and joined the line once the gate agent invited the first class cabin to board. After waiting for about a minute or two I reached the front of the line and the gate agent welcomed me and he asked me to scan my boarding pass. The agent thanked me and he invited me to have a good flight.
I proceeded down the jetway and was met by a friendly flight attendant who invited me onto the airplane and welcomed me.
I located my seat. The aircraft was a new A321S which was configured in the standard domestic configuration with four rows of First Class. The seats were large and they featured AVOD with touchscreen. The seat featured a power outlet and USB power port. There was also a S-Video connection which seemed a bit out of place.
My seat was 3A, which was a window seat. I got comfortable in the seat as the flight attendants made welcome announcements. The seat was comfortable.
About five minutes before the scheduled departure time, the flight attendants made an announcement that boarding was complete and that they would be closing the door early and they asked everyone to take their seats.
The flight attendants prepared the cabin for departure. No pre-departure beverages were offered.
The safety video was displayed and during the beginning portion, the lead flight attendant walked around to each seat in the first class cabin and greeted each passenger by name and welcomed them. He asked us to enjoy the flight.
There was a taxi of about five or six minutes before the Captain informed the flight attendants to take their seats.
The aircraft took off and within a few minutes the flight attendants made announcements welcoming guests on board.
In addition, the AVOD screens showed a advertisement about the entertainment options both for purchase as well as complimentary. It highlighted the offerings for each option.
I selected a movie as all the content was complimentary for the first class cabin. Flight attendants handed out headphones to each passenger at the beginning of the flight.
The flight attendant returned and greeted me and offered a beverage. I requested a vodka cranapple. The flight attendant thanked me and he informed me that he would be back shortly.
Within a minute or two, the flight attendant returned and provided the glass and asked me to enjoy.
A few minutes later, the flight attendant provided a hot towel. I accepted and he thanked me. The towel had a pleasant scent. The used towels were picked up a few minutes later.
The flight attendant returned about 10 minutes later and he greeted me again and he offered a selection between an egg entrée and oatmeal. I requested the egg dish. The flight attendant thanked me and he provided the tray one minute later. The flight attendant asked me to enjoy after provided the tray.
A minute or two later, the flight attendant returned and he offered a biscuit or roll. I requested the role. He provided it and wished me a good meal.
The meal consisted of egg quiche with vegetables. The quiche was served hot and it had a light flavor. The dish was served with seasoned potatoes and a small fruit plate. The fruit was chilled and it was fresh and had a good flavor. The biscuit was served warm. The biscuit was slightly dry but it had a good taste and flavor.
While I was enjoying the meal, the flight attendant returned and offered an additional beverage. I declined at that time and he thanked me.
After I finished the meal, a flight attendant returned and he offered to remove the tray. I accepted and he thanked me. He also offered an additional drink at that time. I declined and he thanked me and he removed my used glass.
The AVOD screen was large and it had a clear picture. A large selection of movies including several new options, television shows, music and games were available. The touch screen functioned well. In addition, a remote was provided in the armrest. I utilized the remote for a few minutes. The remote was responsive and I found it easy to use similar to the AVOD screen.
The flight attendants made a few announcements during the flight including an offer for the Citi Advantage Credit card. The offer was for 30,000 bonus miles.
Shortly before landing, the Captain made an announcement with arrival information. The flight attendants followed and then they removed the remaining used glasses and dishes.
The lead flight attendant walked around to each seat to thank everyone for flying American.
The flight landed early and after a somewhat lengthy taxi, it arrived at the gate. As I was departing the plane the flight attendant thanked me sincerely and he wished me a good day.
Overall I enjoyed the flight. The aircraft felt brand new and it was nice that the AVOD screen was so large and was responsive. I felt that the flight attendants were friendly and helpful and they made the flight enjoyable.
