Hong Kong Weekend Introduction

This post is my Hong Kong Weekend Introduction. It covers all the trip reports that are included as part of the trip.

Hong Kong Weekend Introduction

Background

Hong Kong is one of my favorite cities to visit. I’ve been there a couple times so far and I wanted to make another trip there before my American Airlines Executive Platinum Status.

As an Executive Platinum member you get access to First Class Lounges when traveling internationally on a OneWorld Alliance Flight. In Hong Kong, this means access to the amazing Cathay Pacific lounges. At the end of February, 2017, my status changes to platinum which means I would only get access to the business class lounges when I travel.

I realize that is a bit of a First World Problem… But none the less, I wanted to make another trip to Hong Kong.

Another reason for the trip was that I had one additional American Airlines systemwide upgrade certificate remaining and I hoped it might clear on the flight back from Hong Kong to Los Angeles.

Hong Kong Weekend

I realize Hong Kong is a long journey for such a short trip; however, I enjoy being up in the air so I do not mind the long flights. Flying in First and Business class didn’t hurt either…

Hong Kong is such an amazing city with so much to see and do. I found that Lonely Planet has a great resource which brings together activities, dining, hotels and a lot more all in one place. I’d recommend checking out the Hong Kong City Guide before your next trip.

While in Hong Kong, I walked around the city and went near the water.

Hong Kong has one of the city ferris wheels located near the waterfront in the main area of the city.

Have you ever been on this one or one of the others in a city near you? I didn’t go on it on this trip, however, years ago, I took a ride on one in Chicago. It offered a great view of the city skyline. I am sure the Hong Kong one was just as awesome.
