Booking
My flight to Winnipeg on Delta was purchased on my behalf by the Travel Manitoba and Tourism Winnipeg as the trip was a media trip organized by the tourism bureau. I was traveling to Canada with a group of other travel writers. The cost of the trip was approximately $650.
While the airfare was generously paid for by Winnipeg, the views expressed in this article are my own.

Upgrade
I received an upgrade to the Economy Plus section of the plane at the time of booking thanks to my Delta Platinum status.
I was #4 out of 9 on the list for an upgrade. No seats were available. I enjoyed my Comfort Plus seat for the trip.
Check In
I utilized CLEAR to bypass the TSA identification check at the airport.
I was assigned Pre-Check so I used the CLEAR kiosk to verify my identity and then the agent asked me to show by boarding pass to the TSA agent.
The regular TSA Pre-check line had about a 10 minute wait. My wait was three minutes thanks to CLEAR.
Gate Area
The flight departed from the C gate area, which is generally where regional flights depart.
There were plenty of seats available in the gate area when I arrived.
I relaxed for a few minutes while waiting for boarding to begin.
Once the passengers were invited to board, I joined the line. An agent greeted me and asked to view my Passport and boarding pass. The gate agent used my name and thanked me before inviting me to board the plane.
Once boarded, the flight received a delay while the bags were re-checked on the plane due to a technical issue.
The flight departed the gate 35 minutes behind schedule and there was a short taxi to the runway.
I looked out the window as the plane took off.
It was a beautiful Spring Day and I snapped a few pictures as we made our way up in to the air.
The plane turned and flew directly over downtown St. Paul, which made for a cool view.
Seat
I was assigned seat 5A in the Comfort Plus section, which was an aisle seat in the 2-2 aircraft.
The CRJ-700 aircraft featured a slimline economy seat with a power port and USB port to share between the two seats.
The aircraft offered GoGo WiFi with entertainment and free messaging.
In Flight Experience
Once the Delta Airlines Minneapolis Winnipeg Afternoon Flight was up in the air, the flight attendants prepared the cabin for a quick service.
I requested a vodka cranberry and was provided a snack mix along with the drink.
I was offered a mini bottle of Findlandia vodka along with the drink. The alcohol was smooth, and the drink was fresh.
The views out the window were a bit hazy but on the warm Spring afternoon.
Once the flight attendants finished the beverage service, they returned to pick up the used items before preparing the plane for landing.
A flight attendant handed out the immigration forms in the middle of the flight.
Landing
The cabin was prepared for landing and the Captain and flight attendants made a few announcements as we made our way to Winnipeg.
We arrived to the north of the airport and vectored around a bit before landing about 35 minutes behind schedule.
There was a short taxi to the gate before the passengers were allowed to depart.
Immigration and Customs
I proceeded to the Immigration and Customs hall upon arrival.
I joined a line of around 50 other guests before being assisted by an immigration officer.
The process lasted about 25 minutes before I cleared immigration and customs.
Overall
The flight was good overall. The flight attendants were friendly. It was nice that the flight attendants offered a full beverage service despite the fact that it was a short flight. I enjoyed looking out the window during the flight.
