Date: September 25, 2015
Flight: Japan Airlines
From: Tokyo Narita (NRT)
To: Seoul (ICN)
Aircraft: 763
Seat: 16D
My flight from Tokyo to Seoul was operated on a 763 that was parked at a remote stand that required a bus to take passengers there.
I approached the bus boarding area shortly before boarding time and a gate agent approached me and asked for my boarding pass and passport. She was walking quickly and we went up to the check in area. The gate agent processed my boarding pass and she thanked me and invited me to take a seat on the bus.
The bus was only ¼ full and it departed within five minutes of me entering it. The bus ride was short and we drove by a few 787’s and 767’s that were parked at gates before proceeding to my aircraft.
I attempted to take pictures; however, the agents in the bus told me not to take them due to security reasons. I snapped one quick shot as we were approaching the aircraft.
Upon exiting the bus, I used air stairs to access the plane. Upon entering the plane the flight attendants greeted me warmly and asked to view my boarding pass. The flight attendants directed me to my seat.
The seating was pretty wide open as there were not many people on the flight. Only a couple people were in business and nearly everyone sitting in economy had a at least one open seat next to them.
The boarding process was quick and the door was closed quickly.
The flight attendants made numerous announcements and they spoke in three languages, Japanese, English and Korean.
The Captain informed the passengers that there would be between 30 to 45-minute taxi before the plane could take off and he thanked guests. The taxi was slow and it lasted about 45 minutes. The Captain also announced that there would be turbulence for the initial part of the flight due to the weather.
My seat was at the front of the economy cabin in the center section in the 2-3-2 configured aircraft. All the seats had a limited amount of leg room; however, there was a personal video monitor at each seat with a remote control in the armrest. The television system also offered a video looking out from the front of the aircraft which was a nice addition. That view was showed on the main screen for the beginning of the flight.
After about 20 minutes in the air, the fight attendants entered the cabin and offered a beverage and meal. Beer and wine was available along with Coca-Cola, juice, teas and water.
The food was served in a small box and it consisted of a chicken and rice entrée along with some vegetables, sticky buns and Japanese sweets.
The chicken was served cold but it had a good taste and the rice was seasoned well. The veggies were fresh and they had a good taste and flavor. The sticky buns were fresh and they also had a good flavor. The sweets were good as well.
The flight attendants returned with coffee and tea options as well as they came around with a basket of Japanese beers.
Throughout the flight, the flight attendants made a lot of announcements including about buying items from their duty free sale. I thought the number of announcements were excessive considering most of the passengers appeared like they wanted to relax.
I watched a video which was a random episode of Breaking Bad. There were several movie options as well.
I was pretty tired on this flight as it was the fourth segment of the day so I dozed off a bit.
The flight lasted about an hour and 45 minutes. Again several announcements were made prior to landing as well as after landing.
The plane taxied for about 10 minutes before reaching a gate. As I exited the plane, the flight attendants thanked me.
I proceeded into the arrivals area and had a decent walk before a ride on a train to a different terminal where I entered the immigration area. There were temperature stations to check passengers for illness as well as special areas for those coming from Africa or other countries.
I entered the immigration line and waited a little less than 10 minutes before being processed. That included providing my index fingerprints as well as a photo and passport check. The process was efficient and I entered the baggage claim area where I proceeded to the exit. There was a brief line there and I exited into the terminal after about 5 minutes.
Overall the flight was quick and it. It was nice that they offered a meal on such short of a flight.
