Seoul Trip Report – Sheraton Incheon Hotel
During the first trip to Seoul I stayed one night at the Sheraton Incheon Hotel which was located about 25 minutes from the airport.
After I exited customs and immigration, I entered the terminal to look for the hotel shuttle area. The hotel did not have its own shuttle service; however, it participated in the Korean Air Shuttle service which served a lot of the hotels in the city. The service is operated at limited times and my flight landed outside of the operating hours. The service cost to the Sheraton was 7,000 Korean Won.
I took a taxi to the hotel and went to the taxi area at the middle of the terminal. The agents greeted me in English and Korean and they asked where I was going. I told them the name of the hotel and they arranged for a car. I asked how much it would cost and was told about 30,000 Korean Won plus the tolls for the road.
The taxi ride was quick and the driver drove the car very fast. There appeared to be speed checking stations because he kept slowing down at specific places before speeding up again. When we arrived at the toll area, the driver had me pay cash for the toll.
Within 25 minutes, the taxi arrived at the hotel. The driver informed me that it was 32,000 Korean Won. I paid and the driver thanked me.
The hotel was located in a modern area on a busy street and was across from a park.
I entered the hotel and approached the front desk and was greeted immediately by the agent. The agent asked for my name and he used it. The agent located the reservation and he reviewed the details with me.
The agent recognized my Starwood Platinum Status and he thanked me for my loyalty and he offered a welcome amenity. I selected the points. The agent also informed me about the Club Lounge access and he provided a paper detailing the hours of operation as well as a summary of other benefits offered at the hotel including the fitness center, shoe shine, pressing service among others.
The agent asked for my passport and credit card and he processed the reservation within five minutes. The agent issued me a key and he informed me where to go for the elevator.
The lobby was modern and simple with a cool looking statue with a bike.
The lobby also offered a variety of seating options as well as a restaurant and bar.
The elevators were controlled and I had to scan my key in order to go to the floor.
My room was assigned on the 19th floor in a club room with a king size bed.
Upon arrival in the room, I found a large room with a view overlooking the park and the skyline of the city. The room featured a king size bed, television, mini bar, large closet. A desk suitable for working on the computer was present along with a small seating area.
On one of the tables I found a bottle of Australian Red wine blend with two glasses and a personalized note from the hotel welcoming me to the Sheraton and thanking me for my business. The wine had a twist top and was a full size bottle. I did not sample the wine and I did not take it with me because I was not checking a bag. The bottle looked like it would have been a nice option and it was a nice touch that the hotel provided that amenity.
The bathroom featured a large bath tub as well as a large shower with a rain showerhead. The bathroom also had a separate room with a toilet and a sink area with plenty of room for getting ready.
The room was clean and in good condition. The linens were soft and comfortable. The amenities included shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body scrub loofa, mouthwash, personal grooming kit and soap.
The lighting was all controlled from a small box that was on the bedside table. At first when I arrived in the room it was dark so it took me a few minutes to figure out how to use the lights.
The bed was soft and comfortable. I was able to sleep most of the night.
In the morning, I visited the Sheraton Club and was greeted by the agent when I arrived. The agent asked for my room number and she welcomed me after I provided it.
The Club lounge featured several tables that were pre-set with flatware, salt and pepper and a placemat. I selected a seat near the window and had a view of the park.
The Club lounge offered eggs, bacon, vegetables, oatmeal and pourage for the hot options. The cold options included salad, cheese, meat, fruit, yogurt and a variety of breads and pastries. An espresso machine was available along with coffee, tea, water bottles and juices.
The Club lounge was clean and comfortable. Music was set at a low level in the background. A television was available along with a computer work station and a printer.
From the buffet I selected scrambled eggs, bacon, vegetables and a croissant. The eggs were served warm and they were cooked well and had a light seasoning. The bacon was crispy and it had a good flavor and it was hot. The vegetables were fresh and they had a good taste and flavor. I also made a small salad. The lettuce was fresh and the other vegetables had a good taste and flavor. The dressing was a balsamic and it had a tangy flavor. The croissant was flight and fluffy and it had an excellent butter flavor. I also made a cappuccino and had a glass of orange juice. The cappuccino had a good taste and flavor and the espresso had a bold flavor.
The agent was noted to walk around the room to clean the tables and to provide new place settings as well as to restock the food. The agent greeted me while I was at the table and she offered to remove my dish. She thanked me when I accepted.
I used the computer in the lounge to print my boarding pass. One of the computers was not working; however, the laptop functioned and I was able to print the pass.
When I departed the lounge the agent thanked me sincerely and she wished me a good day.
I returned to the front desk to check out a little before noon. When I arrived there was a large airline crew checking in as well as three other guests were waiting. An agent greeted me in the waiting area and he said one of the other agents would be able to check me out shortly.
Within a few minutes I reached the front of the line and the agent greeted me and offered assistance. After I provided my room number, the agent used my name and he asked me about my stay. The agent confirmed the charges and he asked for my credit card to settle the bill. The agent offered transportation options and I was able to purchase a ticket on the Korean Air bus for 7,000 Korean Won. The agent charged the ticket to the room and he provided the ticket as well as the folio and credit card receipt. The agent thanked me and he invited me to return to the hotel as well as to have a safe trip home. The agent informed me where to go for the bus.
The bus arrived on time and the driver took my ticket and departed shortly. The bus featured comfortable seats. The bus made two additional stops before going to the airport. The drive lasted 30 minutes. Upon arrival at the airport, the driver thanked the guests and wished them a safe flight.
Overall I enjoyed the stay at the Sheraton. The colleagues that I interacted with were friendly and polite and they made me feel welcome. It was a nice touch receiving the bottle of wine. I wish I could have enjoyed it. Hopefully the housekeeping colleague will be able to enjoy it. The Club lounge was good and the food was excellent. The room was quiet and I was able to sleep well. The room featured an amazing view of the city. I would return to the hotel in the future.
