Seoul Trip Report – Sightseeing in Seoul
During the first trip to Seoul, I stayed at the Sheraton about 25 minutes after the airport. The Sheraton was located across the street from a park as well as a number of unique buildings and bridges. The park had a lake that ran through it and walking and bike trails.
I went for a walk around the park and the area surrounding the hotel.
The city is very modern and the buildings and architecture was excellent with some unique designs.
The park was clean and the paths were well maintained. Security cameras were noted throughout the park and the area felt safe throughout the time I was in the park.
Along the trails there were several areas with gym equipment. Visitors could use the machines including an elliptical and other equipment. In addition, there were several children’s play areas.
In the area near the water, there was an animal retreat, and there were birds, ducks, Deer and bunnies in caged areas. It appeared that it was a mini zoo.
Around the water, guests could rent boats to enjoy the area. The water was somewhat clear and you could see fish present.
Along the walking trails there were water stations as well as vending areas.
The park featured some traditional Korean architecture and statues that stood out against the backdrop of modern buildings surrounding the park.
There were two or three bridges that went above the lake. The bridges were suspension and they had a unique design.
Along one side of the park was a new building made to look traditional Korean. The building was the site for a hotel that was opening soon as well as restaurants.
I had the feeling that the entire park and area was built within the last year or two as everything was new and clean.
At one end of the park was a food court and a sunset area where customers could order drinks and watch the sunset or coffee and tea during the daytime.
In addition to going for a long walk in the park, I explored and looked at the different modern buildings and stopped at a shopping area to look for a gift for my wife.
This visit was short so I enjoyed having the opportunity to walk through the park and see some of the scenery along with the modern buildings.
