Seoul Trip Report – Sheraton Grand DFW Airport
On the first Seoul trip, I had one overnight in Dallas Fort Worth due to the flight availability at the discounted price. I selected the Sheraton Grand Hotel DFW Airport and I proceeded to the hotel shuttle pick up area outside of the D terminal.
Upon arrival, I called the hotel and the colleague asked for my name and my location and she said she would send the van there shortly. The colleague asked for my telephone number. I provided it and she thanked me.
After waiting 15 minutes, the shuttle arrived and a cordial agent greeted me and welcomed me to Dallas. The colleague made conversation with me while we drove to the hotel. The colleague informed me that the hotel was sold out due to a dance competition that weekend.
Upon arrival at the hotel, the colleague thanked me and asked me to have a good stay.
I approached the front desk and found five other guests present and three agents were working. After waiting for two minutes, I was assisted by an agent who welcomed me to Sheraton and offered assistance. After I requested to check in, the colleague used my name and confirmed the details of the reservation. The colleague confirmed my Starwood Platinum status and he offered an amenity. I requested the points and he informed me that I was also given lounge access and he put a sticker on the key packet listing the hours for the lounge as well as the WiFi information. The colleague processed the check in within two minutes and he issued the key. The colleague used my name several times and he asked me to enjoy my stay.
The lobby was busy with activity from the dance competition but it had a large bar area and seating area with food and beverage offerings available. The lobby was clean.
The hotel exterior was a little run down but the inside areas were clean and in good condition. I did not notice any defects in the public areas.
I was assigned room 612, a king-size bed standard room. The room was clean and had a fresh scent when I arrived. The room included the bed, dresser with television on top, computer desk, and two chairs. The window offered a view of the airport. The bathroom had a standard bath tub and shower combination as well as a sink with plenty of area to place my personal items.
The bed was the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bed and it was soft and comfortable. The linens were of good quality and they were clean.
The room had a few scuff marks on the walls as well as by the dresser. The room had brown and gray tones as well as Texas themed decorations.
The water temperature was good and the water pressure was somewhat restricted.
The WiFi service was somewhat slow as typical for a hotel.
I visited the club lounge for the evening reception. The club lounge was a medium size room with comfortable tables and chairs. The lounge offered a computer work station as well as a television and a buffet area.
When I arrived, the attendant smiled, made eye contact with me and welcomed me to the lounge. The colleague asked if I wanted beer or wine. The hotel provides two glasses of wine or two beers per person per night as part of the Club offering. I ordered a beer and she provided one promptly and set it up at a table.
The buffet offered two hot dishes including a taco and a mushroom popover as well as cheese, crackers, chips and fresh fruit. In addition a variety of sodas and water were provided. The beer options were Budweiser, Bud Lite, Coors Lite and Ultimate 64. Red and white wine was also available.
The attendant greeted all the guests as they arrived and offered beverages. The colleague was friendly and polite and she kept the area clean.
From the buffet I selected a few tacos and the mushroom popover. Both items were served warm. The tacos had a had a cheesy flavor and the ingredients were fresh. The mushroom popovers had a flakey crust and a good mushroom flavor. I also had some pineapple. The pineapple was served chilled and it was fresh and sweet and had a good taste.
When I departed the lounge the attendant thanked me sincerely and she invited me to have a good night.
The room offered a view of the airport. And there was a nice sunset the evening I was there.
My flight left early in the morning so I did not utilize the lounge for breakfast.
The check out process was efficient. When I approached the desk an agent greeted me warmly and asked for my name. After I provided it, the agent offered assistance. I requested to check out and she inquired about my stay. I said that it was good and she thanked me. She confirmed the method of payment as well as the charges before offering to email the folio. The colleague thanked me for staying at the hotel and wished me a good flight.
I waited for about five minutes before the next shuttle arrived. The driver greeted me and welcomed me. The driver asked what airline and terminal. I provided the information and he assisted me with seating.
The shuttle departed for the airport with no other passengers. The driver asked if I knew what gate I was assigned. I said I was not sure and went to the middle of the terminal area for drop offs. The colleague thanked me and he wished me a good day and flight. The drive took about five minutes.
Overall my stay at the Sheraton DFW Airport was good. The colleagues that I interacted with were friendly and polite and they made me feel welcome. It was a nice touch that the lounge attendant was so friendly and the fact that they offered a beer. The room was comfortable and I was able to sleep. I would return in the future.
