Seoul Trip Report – Aloft Seoul Gangnam
I arrived at the hotel about 9:00 PM. The hotel is located in the city near some shopping areas as well as office buildings. The area was well lit and there was a lot of traffic on the road when I arrived.
As I entered the lobby, it was minimalistic and featured some modern decorations as well as a desk and the Aloft Café.
I approached the front desk and was greeted by an agent immediately. The agent offered assistance and I requested to check in. The agent asked for my passport and credit card. The agent welcomed me to the hotel and she confirmed the details of the reservation. The agent said they upgraded my room to a river view room and she offered either breakfast or the points for the amenity. I requested breakfast and she thanked me. The agent processed the payment and she asked me to sign the registration form. The agent issued a key and she provided directions to the lifts. The agent asked me to enjoy my stay. She was friendly and polite and I felt welcome.
My room was 1012 and it was a corner room that overlooked the water and the city skyline. Below was also a residential area with trees and other vegetation. The room offered a nice view.
The room featured a small desk for working on the computer, king size bed, television, small sitting area and closet. The bathroom featured a shower with mini rain shower head and a small sink area and toilet. The room was clean and comfortable. The lights functioned and the television and electronics were functioning well. A variety of channels were available including both Korean, English and other international channels.
The room was quiet and I was able to sleep most of the night. The bed was comfortable.
The water temperature and pressure in the shower were good. The bath amenities were in a dispenser in the shower and they had a pleasant scent. There was also lotion and a bar of soap at the sink.
In the morning I visited the Nook for the breakfast buffet. The Nook was in the same space used for the XYZ Bar in the evening. There was a stage setup for a concert. The room was open and there were several tables and chairs available. The room featured book shelves with books and decorations on it as well as a large picture window.
The host greeted me and he asked for my room number. I provided it and he confirmed my name and he welcomed me and asked me to take a seat and to help myself from the buffet.
The buffet included Asian and Western dishes. There were several hot food items available as well as cold food. There was a kitchen action station where a chef was preparing eggs for guests.
The food looked fresh and appetizing and all the dishes had signs in English and Korean and it was easy to pick out items. The food was setup neatly and it was attended to by the chef throughout the meal.
I asked the host for a cappuccino and he provided one within two minutes. The cappuccino was hot and it was served in a decorative cup with cinnamon on top.
I approached the action station and requested an egg white omelet with everything on it. The chef thanked me and he prepared it within three minutes and he presented it to me on a small plate and asked me to enjoy it.
The omelet was served hot and the egg whites were cooked well. The omelet featured a variety of vegetables that were lightly sautéed and they had a good taste and flavor.
From the buffet I selected kimche fried rice, and bacon and sausage.
The fried rice was fresh and it had a good flavor. It was made with bacon and kimche. The ingredients were fresh and they had a good seasoning. The bacon was crispy and it was also hot and had a good taste. The sausage was made from chicken and it was served warm and it had a good seasoning level.
I returned to the buffet and had a small salad and some dumplings. The salad was fresh and served chilled and it consisted of three types of lettuce and tomatoes. I selected an Asian dressing and it was ginger sesame flavor. The salad was fresh and it had a good taste. The dumplings were pork filled and they were steamed and served hot. The dumplings had a good taste and flavor.
The attendant approached my table a few times to check on me. After I was finished he thanked me and he wished me a good day.
When I was ready to depart the hotel, I approached the front desk to check out. The agent greeted me warmly and she welcomed me and offered assistance. After I requested to check out she inquired about my stay. I said that it was good and she used my name and verified the charges before processing the payment. The agent thanked me sincerely and she invited me to return to the hotel in the future.
Overall the stay was enjoyable. The room was clean and quiet and it offered a great view of the water and the city skyline. The agents at the hotel were welcoming. The food at breakfast was excellent. I would return in the future.
