Note: Prior to my stay, I used the mobile app to check into the hotel. The app said that the mobile key was requested. I did not receive a notice of the room number or that I was checked in and the app remained saying that it was requested upon arrival at the hotel.

Upon arrival in Philadelphia I called the Aloft Hotel to request the shuttle service. When I reached an agent I informed her I needed a shuttle. The agent said to go outside by door 4 and the shuttle comes every 20 minutes. She did not ask which terminal I was at but she thanked me.

I proceeded to the waiting area and within 20 minutes the shuttle arrived. The shuttle initially did not stop at the curb. When I walked forward and waived to it, the driver opened the door from the middle lane and I was able to jump in while he continued driving. There were three other guests in the shuttle. The shuttle was Shared between the Sheraton, Four Points and Aloft.

The drive to the hotel lasted about five minutes. Upon arrival at the hotel, the driver opened the door and said Aloft. The shuttle stopped on the main street and it did not pull up into the hotel. One passenger got off and the driver continued to drive. I said I was going there also and he opened the door for me.

I approached the front desk and found one colleague present and two other guests were waiting. After waiting for three minutes, the colleague finished with the other guest and she greeted me. I requested to check in. I said that the app still listed me as requested. She asked for my identification card and credit card and she processed the check in. The agent offered a choice between breakfast, points or the local amenity. I asked if breakfast was the quick service or if it was a regular one. She said that I could either get something quick at the market or I could walk over to the Four Points and have a sit down breakfast there. I requested the points and she thanked me. The agent said she would activate the mobile key but it would take 10 minutes so she provided a regular key. The agent thanked me and she offered a late check out the following day. I accepted and she thanked me and she presented the key and informed me where to go to the room.

I was assigned room 501 which was at the end of the hall on the fifth floor. I accessed the room using my key card and the door opened without issue.

About five minutes after I arrived in the room, the app notified me that my mobile key was ready. I used the mobile key to open the door two times as well as to access the exterior door to the hotel. The mobile key worked without issue.

The room was free of major defects. A few minor ones were noted including scuff marks on the wall and wallpaper damage by the shower in the bathroom.

The room was quiet throughout the night.

I utilized the WiFi in the room and the signal was good and the connection was average for a hotel.

The lobby consisted of a gathering area with a market that offered food 24 hours a day. There was also the xyz bar in the lobby that was open in the evening. The bar featured a few televisions showing sports. In addition, there were additional seating area in the lobby as well as a pool table.

In the morning I walked over to the Four Points which was located next door for breakfast. When I approached the host stand, the colleague offered to seat me.

I inquired about the SPG breakfast and he provided a menu and offered coffee. I ordered coffee. The server returned a few minutes later with the coffee and he asked if I was ready to order. I asked what I could order for the complimentary breakfast. The server told me that that continental breakfast was the complimentary option. I ordered that and he asked if I wanted and hot food. I declined and he thanked me.

The food was served about 10 minutes after ordering. The server asked if I needed anything else. I declined and he thanked me and wished me a good meal. The server took my SPG platinum voucher for the breakfast.

The breakfast consisted of a fruit plate with melon, pineapple and orange slices as well as yogurt. There was also a warm bran muffin and a pastry on a second plate.

The fruit was fresh and sweet and it had a good taste and flavor. The muffin was warm and it had a good taste. The coffee was served hot and it was in a clean glass. The coffee had a good taste.

The server checked back with me one time during the meal.

When I was ready to depart he thanked me sincerely and he asked me to have a good day.

The check out process at the hotel was efficient. When I reached the front desk, the agent greeted me and inquired about my stay. The agent used my name and thanked me for staying at the hotel. The agent confirmed the charges and offered to email the receipt. The agent thanked me and offered transportation to the airport or further assistance.

I enjoyed my stay at Aloft. The room was clean and comfortable and it was quiet overall. The breakfast option was okay. I wish Starwood offered a better breakfast option for Platinum members, but it was nice having the option to get a table service meal rather than getting something from the snack bar at Aloft. The location is excellent as it is about five minutes from the airport.
