American MIA MSP –

To celebrate my wife’s birthday we traveled to Miami as well as the Bahamas on a four-day cruise on Norwegian Sky from Miami to the Bahamas.

The trip includes one night in Miami as well as the four night cruise visiting Nassau, Grand Bahama and the cruise line’s private island Great Stirrup Cay.

American MIA MSP

My wife and I were both upgraded on our American flight from MIA to MSP approximately 100 hours prior to the flight.

My wife and I approached the gate area approximately 40 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. We found the gate area to be busy with activity. We took a seat and waited for boarding to begin.

When the boarding process started, we joined the line when first class was invited to board. After waiting for a minute or so we reached the front of the line and a gate agent greeted us and asked us to scan our boarding passes. We both scanned them and the agent thanked us and welcomed us on the flight.

We proceeded down the jetway and were greeted by a flight attendant by the door. The flight attendant was friendly and welcoming and they invited us to board.

We located our seats. The seats were a standard first class seat with power outlets below each seat.

The flight attendants circulated the cabin to assist guests with their luggage as well as finding their seats.

Shortly before boarding was complete, a flight attendant approached our seat and greeted us. The flight attendant offered a pre-departure beverage. My wife and I requested Bud Light with lime. The flight attendant thanked us and said she would be back shortly.

The beverages were served a minute or two later. The flight attendant asked us to enjoy them.

Once boarding was complete, the flight attendants prepared the cabin for departure as well as showed the safety video.

The flight attendant returned to our seats to remove the used glasses prior to take off.

The taxi was short and we were up in the air shortly.

Within a few minutes the flight attendants offered a hot towel.

The hot towels were picked up a minute or two later and a flight attendant offered us a selection of beverages. My wife and I requested vodka cranapple with lime. The flight attendant thanked us.

The vodka cranapple was served a couple minutes later along with a small dish of nuts.

The drinks were poured strong over ice and they had a good taste.

The flight attendants checked in with us several times during the flight and offered additional beverages.

In addition, a light snack offering was made with a choice between a cheese plate or a hummus plate. My wife requested the cheese plate and I requested the hummus plate.

The snack options were served off of a tray.

The hummus plate was served chilled. It consisted of a roasted red pepper hummus along with a small spinach artichoke dip. The hummus was fresh and it had a good taste. The spinach artichoke dip was also served chilled and it had a tangy flavor. The appetizer was served with four small pita bread pieces. The bread was soft and it was fresh.

The cheese plate consisted of three varieties of cheese cut into medium sized pieces. The cheese was fresh and it had a good taste. The cheese was served with grapes and a package of crackers. The grapes were sweet and the crackers were also fresh.

The flight attendants circulated the cabin a few times during the flight. When I approached them near the galley they were friendly and they were happy to offer assistance. After I requested another beverage they promptly provided it and they checked in with us several more times during the flight.

My wife and I watched a couple TV shows from my iPad.

I attempted to use the GoGo Entertainment Content; however, I found that the only complimentary options were the two NBC looped shows that they were showing on the overhead video.

I was surprised to learn that the content was all for purchase. On Delta I found several TV shows and a couple movies as free content. The same movies and TV shows were for-purchase on American.

Shortly before landing the Captain made a few announcements followed by the flight attendants.

The flight landed on time and there was a short taxi to one of the C gates that are shared with Delta.

After a short delay before the door was opened, we were able to exit the airplane. The flight attendants thanked us and wished us a good night.

My wife and I proceeded to the baggage claim area and waited about 10 minutes before our bags were delivered on the belt.

Overall the flight was enjoyable. We felt that the flight attendants were happy to assist us and they kept our beverages full throughout the flight. The food options were limited but they were fresh and had a good taste and flavor.
