This article is a news update featuring Princess Changes Princess Plus and Premier packages as well as other articles of interest.
I read a lot of articles each week. When I see interesting ones I save them to share with others. These are some of the articles that I saw this week.
Princess Changes Princess Plus and Premier
The Points Guy covers the change on Princess where the medallion ordering that used to be available for everyone now comes with a fee unless you upgrade to Princess Plus or Premier. In addition, some of the dining venues that were previously complimentary for all now got moved to a Casual dining category where you have to pay a fixed cost to dine there. Princess Premier will include unlimited casual dining, but Princess Plus will only allow you to go to two. It is always annoying when cruise lines devalue their benefits. Princess was a leader in having free in room dining with the medallion ordering technology for all. Unfortunately that is going away unless you upgrade at $60 or $80 per day per person plus tax.
I recently sailed on Discovery Princess. I really enjoyed the Medallion Technology and getting some of the benefits. It is unfortunate that these changes are happening now. You can read about my Discover Princess sailing here.
Texas-Based Carnival Cruise Ship Welcomes Special Visitors
Carnival invited students onboard one of their ships in Texas in order to encourage jobs at sea. This was really cool for the students involved. Most of the time you only find the entertainment staff or cruise staff from the United States. I wonder if these student tours will lead to more jobs?
It’s been a long time since I sailed from Galveston. I remember Dolphins swimming alongside the ship as we departed. Will all the improvements to the port it may be time to book another sailing from this port. Have you sailed from Galveston?
My free 10-night MSC European cruise experience
This article is a review of someone who benefited from a casino cruise offer and was able to book a 10-night sailing in Europe. It is pretty amazing that this worked out for the writer since MSC canceled a lot of peoples cruises who booked these casino offers when they realized the status came via matches. Two cabins on a Europe cruise for around $500 total is a pretty amazing deal.
Overall the experience seemed normal for MSC with primary complaints on food. It is nice to know that the writer would cruise on MSC again. I sailed on MSC several times now. While you encounter some service misses, the ships really are beautiful and Ocean Cay is an incredible island.
Have you been on a casino offer on MSC?
Creating Icon of the Seas’ Royal Promenade – What Is the Pearl?
Royal Caribbean continues to keep the buzz high on Icon of the Seas! I am looking forward to sailing on her in January. But with all the hype, will the experience live up? At the premium prices for the sailing hopefully it will and then some! This new Pearl sphere shaped structure and area in the Royal Promenade look pretty cool in the renderings. Hopefully they will be fun to explore come January!
Cruise News
That was a few of the articles I saw this week that peeked my interest. I am not sure what to think about the changes on Princess. I guess I would likely book into Premier anyway so the addition of those casual dining options could be interesting.
Did I miss an article that you found interesting this week? Let me know and I can share it on a future article.
