Miami and Bahamas Trip Report – Sheraton Miami Airport –
After returning from the cruise, my wife and I had a long layover in Miami as our flight departed at 8:30 PM that day and we were off the ship at 9:00 AM.
I used 7,000 points to book the Sheraton Miami Airport Hotel so that we could relax in a hotel room, use the lounge and pool rather than having to lug around our luggage in Miami for the day or sitting around at the airport. The hotel was available for $220 that day so I felt that like using points instead.
We arrived at the hotel via UBER. The driver had a difficult time finding the way to access the hotel initially; however, making a u-turn she was available to make her way there.
When we arrived, a doorman welcomed us and offered luggage assistance. We declined the assistance and the doorman thanked us and he welcomed us and provided instructions on checking in.
When we arrived, the lobby was busy with activity with guests departing as well as waiting for a hotel shuttle.
We approached the front desk and found two colleagues present and one other guest was being assisted. A colleague invited us to the desk and she offered assistance. I requested to check in and the colleague asked for my identification card and credit card. I provided them. I booked the reservation for the night prior to guarantee that we would be able to check into a room in the morning. I left notes saying that I would be arriving on the following morning as well as I requested a late check out that day around 5:00 PM. The colleague confirmed those details and she informed us that we would get access to the club lounge. She said breakfast was over but we could have light snacks and drinks in the lounge throughout the day. The agent provided our keys and she provided directions to the elevator and she asked us to enjoy our stay.
We were assigned room 1018 which was a double bed room on the club floor.
We utilized our room key card to open the door.
The room was setup with two queen size beds, a television on top of a dresser as well as a desk with computer chair. In addition, a small chair was provided on the other side of the room.
The room featured a view of the golf course but the windows were very dirty on the outside so it did not have the best view.
The bathroom featured a bath rub and shower, toilet and large vanity area.
The room was clean and comfortable. The linens on the beds were clean and soft.
The desk drawer was broken it it stuck out, which made it uncomfortable to use it as a computer desk.
The room was otherwise in good condition.
My wife relaxed and took a nap while I did some work on my computer.
I visited the club lounge. The lounge was accessed using the guest key card and it featured a large seating area.
The lounge had a section with small comfortable chairs as well as an ottoman as well as a section with tables and chairs. The room offered windows on three sides but the windows were somewhat dirty. Two of the sides offered a view of the airport. The other side had a view of the city.
The lounge was clean an the chairs and tables were arranged neatly.
The lounge featured three fruit options as well as water, Coke and Diet coke.
There were two computers available as well as a printer.
The lounge had several televisions.
I took a seat at one of the tables and did some work on my laptop.
The Wifi connection at the hotel was good and I was able to get a lot of work done.
I visited the pool and found the area to be setup neatly with several pool chairs. The pool was clean and the water was comfortable.
I sat in the sun and relaxed for a while.
When my wife and I were ready to depart the hotel, we approached the front desk and was assisted by a friendly colleague who invited us to the desk and she offered assistance. After we requested to check out, the colleague inquired about our stay and she used my name and thanked me for my loyalty to Starwood and she verified that it was a points stay and that there were no charges.
The colleague offered additional assistance. After I declined, she thanked us and invited us to return.
We utilized the hotel shuttle to access the airport. After waiting for a few minutes, the bus departed and the colleague operating the bus was friendly and he welcomed us when we boarded. The colleague asked for our airline and he announced the location once we arrived at the terminal. The bus ride was approximately 10 minutes When we exited the colleague thanked us sincerely and he wished us a good day.
Overall the hotel was clean and in good condition. The room was quiet and comfortable. The colleagues at the hotel were friendly and polite and they made us feel welcome. We would return again to this location. The only thing that could have been improved was that the outside windows could have been cleaner so we could enjoy the view outside better.

I think you meant 7,000 points, not 8,000.
You are right. Thanks for correcting me! Have you stayed at the Sheraton at MIA?
