Hyatt Regency Bloomington

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency Bloomington which is a new Hyatt hotel in Minneapolis near the airport.

I stayed at the hotel during one of the nights of the TBEX conference.

I booked the hotel for a rate of $119 per-night.

Check In

I arrived at the hotel in the evening and approached the front desk. An agent greeted me warmly and offered assistance. After I requested to check in, the colleague asked for my name and she used it during the interaction.

I requested to check in, and the colleague confirmed the length of stay. The colleague thanked me for being a Hyatt Diamond member and she said that my room was upgraded to a Regency Suite due to my status. I thanked her and the colleague provided some information about the hotel as well as she offered a late check out and an amenity. I requested points for the amenity and she thanked me. The colleague processed the registration and she provided keys and offered luggage assistance. After I declined, she thanked me and wished me a pleasant stay.

Room

I was assigned room 525, which was a one-bedroom suite with a living room and a separate bedroom.

The key accessed the door lock without issue.

The room was large and it was clean and had a pleasant scent.

The living area featured a counter with a refrigerator and storage area as well as a work space with a high stool chair.

There was a sitting area with a couch and a television.

The room offered a view of Bloomington facing the light rail station.

The bedroom featured a king size bed.

There was a unique rug in front of the bed.

The room featured a television in front of the bed as well as a chair and lamp near the window.

The bed was soft and clean and the linens were in good condition.

A bathroom was present with two sinks, an enclosed toilet room and a shower.

The bathroom was clean and it was organized neatly.

The amenities were in good condition and a variety of them were offered. In addition, toothpaste and a toothbrush were placed on the counter in the vanity.

Overnight

The room was clean and it was quiet. I did not hear any noises from the other rooms or outside during the stay.

The bed was soft and comfortable.

The temperature in the room was controlled via a thermostat. The controls functioned well without issue.

The bed offered a good nights rest.

Regency Club

As a Hyatt Diamond member I was provided access to the Regency Club.

The Regency Club is located on the second floor and it was accessed by the guest keycard.

I visited at approximately 7:00 PM.

The lounge was not attended at that time and no other guests were present.

The lounge was setup neatly with various seating options. A television was available and the windows offered a view of Bloomington.

The lounge had limited food options available include a snack mix, jelly beans, coffee, tea, soda and water.

The buffet area had stations available for other foods both warm and cold but they were not utilized.

A refrigerator was present with beer in it; however, it was locked so I was unable to sample one of the beers.

The lounge was clean and there were clean dishes and plates available. A few used items were left on a table but the lounge was otherwise clean.

Public Areas

The lobby was clean and it had a modern feel.

A large fire place was present with seating around it.

The lobby was open and inviting.

The walk up area to the hotel was clean and the parking lot was in good condition.

The hotel features a pool and fitness center. The facilities were clean and in good condition.

The hotel featured artwork throughout the property that was modern in appearance.

Breakfast

Breakfast was served in Urbana Craeft Kitchen located on the first floor.

As a Hyatt Diamond member I was provided breakfast with my stay.

The breakfast area was clean and in good condition.

The tables and chairs were setup neatly and the room had an open feel.

Private tables as well as a community table was available.

The host greeted me when I arrived and he offered to seat me. I accepted and he escorted me to a table and provided a menu. The host said the server would be with me shortly.

The menu was clean and all the dishes were unique and they were gourmet versions of classic breakfast favorites.

The featured items were Aebleskiver Scandinavian Ball Pancakes which were available in three different options with local maple syrup and breakfast jams were provided.

The menu also featured regular breakfast favorites and lighter items.

The table was setup neatly and the flatware and glasses were clean. A linen napkin was provided and it was also in excellent condition.

The server approached the table and offered a choice of beverages. I requested a cappuccino. The server prepared it and she returned within a minute or two and asked if i was ready to order. I requested the Wild Rice Aebleskiver Ball Pancakes. The server suggested I have it was eggs. I accepted and she asked how I wanted them prepared. I said over medium. The server thanked me and she repeated the order to confirm.

The food was prepared within 10 minutes. The server delivered the pancakes with two containers of syrup. One was a traditional maple option and the other was a berry syrup.

The pancakes were served hot. They were shaped into small balls. A large portion was provided. The pancakes were cooked and they were hearty with a wild rice flavor.  The syrup was fresh and sweet and it had an excellent taste and flavor.

The dish was served with two eggs. The eggs were served hot and they were cooked as requested. The eggs were fresh and they had a good taste.

The dish was presented attractively.

The cappuccino was served hot and it had a good espresso flavor.

After I finished the meal, the server asked if I needed anything else. After I declined, she thanked me and she presented the check.

I signed the check to the room and the server picked it up and she thanked me and wished me a good day.

Check Out

When I was ready to depart the hotel, I approached the front desk. There was one colleague present and zero other guests were waiting.

As I approached the desk, the colleague greeted me and offered assistance. I requested to check out and she asked for my name. I provided it and she used my name and thanked me. The colleague inquired about the stay. I said that it was good and she thanked me and asked how I enjoyed the room. I said it was nice. The colleague reviewed the charges and confirmed the method of payment before offering an email copy. I accepted and she thanked me. The colleague thanked me for being a Diamond Member and she invited me to return to the hotel in the future. The colleague offered additional assistance. After I declined, she thanked me and wished me a great day.

Summary

It was a great stay at this Hyatt. The colleagues that interacted with were very friendly and they made me feel happy to be staying at the hotel. The room was large and it was clean. It was nice receiving the upgraded room. The view from the room was nice.

I was a bit disappointed in the lack of food options for the evening reception in the lounge; however, the lounge was clean and it was in good condition overall.

The breakfast was excellent. The pancakes had a wonderful flavor and the service was friendly.

I would happily return to the hotel in the future.
